AROUND SHELBY:

THE GROCERY STORE MOM AND I SHOPPED AT EVERY FRIDAY IS STILL THERE...
AND THE BOWLING ALLEY...BUT IT THINK IT CLOSED AFTER THE FLOOD A COUPLE YEARS AGO ALONG WITH THE GREAT SCOT GROCERY STORE...

CITY HALL...

THE FIRE STATION...

THE BANK...

SHELBY JUNIOR HIGH BACK IN THE 40'S BEFORE WE GOT THERE:

MR GLENWRIGHT'S SCIENCE ROOM- YUCK...
THE OLD GYM- IT HAD A CAT WALK ALL THE WAY AROUND IT AND IT WAS ALSO THE BACK OF THE STAGE...WE DIDN'T USE IT FOR A LUNCH ROOM IN THE 70'S- WE HAD A LUNCH ROOM...

THE HALL WAY- ONE OF MANY- IT HAD 3 FLOORS AND WAS SHAPED IN AN L...

THE AUDITORIUM...

THE BALCONY IN THE AUDITORIUM- IN THE OLD DAYS IT HAD A SIGN THAT BLACKS COULD ONLY SIT IN THE BALCONY...NOTICE THE WOODEN CHAIRS- IN THE 70'S WE HAD REGULAR THEATRE CHAIRS THAT WERE BURGUNDY AND CUSHIONED...IT WAS AWESOME...

JUST TWO KIDS FROM SHELBY:

MARY...

TERRI...

THE HOSPITAL WE WERE BORN IN...
AUBURN SCHOOL- OUR GRADE SCHOOL...

THE JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL...IT USED TO BE THE HIGH SCHOOL UNTIL THEY BUILT THE "NEW" ONE...
OUR HIGH SCHOOL...THOSE WERE THE DAYS...AND WE SURVIVED AND IT DIDN'T LAST FOREVER LIKE WE THOUGHT IT WAS GOING TO...

Sunny morning and stormy afternoon- 8/10s of an inch of rain in 10-15 minutes...

Storm clouds moving through...
It rained in sheets earlier...but we don't need to water tonight or in the morning...and no one hollered "Auntie Em"...

CRAIG'S MORNING WALK:

CORN AND GREEN BEANS ARE UP AND COMING- IT WON'T BE LONG TILL WE ARE COOKING OFF THE BEANS AND BUTTERING UP THOSE BIG GOLDEN EARS...

WE DID SOME MOVING AROUND YESTERDAY AFTERNOON WHEN IT GOT SO HOT- THERE IS ALWAYS A BREEZE BLOWING RIGHT THROUGH HERE AND IT IS ALWAYS SHADED NOW...JUST A NICE PLACE TO REST AND VISIT AMONG THE FLOWERS...

BEFORE AND AFTER IN ONLY 6 WEEKS:

BEFORE...
AFTER...
BEFORE...
AFTER...
BEFORE...
AFTER...
IT TOOK ONLY 6 WEEKS FOR GOD TO TURN BROWN AND GRAY INTO GREEN AND FULL AND SHADED... WE HAVE ONLY PLANTED ABOUT 70%, TILLED THE SOIL, KEEP IT WEEDED AND ONLY WATER IT ABOUT 50% OF THE TIME- GOD DOES THE HARD PART.
MY MOM ALWAYS TOLD ME TO TAKE CARE OF WHAT GOD GIVES ME- WHETHER ITS BABIES, FAMILY, FRIENDS, ANIMALS OR WHATEVER HAPPENS TO POP UP IN THE FLOWERS BEDS AND GARDEN. WE NEVER REALLY OWN ANYTHING- WE'RE JUST CARETAKERS JUST PASSING THROUGH...
