Support, support support...

your local humane associations...
so folks like us...
can keep saving lives like these...

monetary donations are always accepted...
but there are so many others things you can do...
first, is to adopt from a local shelter...
and there are fees, but they have them for a reason...
they could give these guys away...
but they are screening to see if you will invest in a pet...
chances are if you pay the fees, which by no means covers the expense of getting them to the adoption point...
that you will continue to take good care of your animals...
our kittens are tested for feline aids and leukemia...
the top two killers...
they are wormed...
but most importantly, someone has taken the time to hand raise these babies...
and they will be used to human contact and end up being the best cuddlers you could ever want...
but there are more things you can do...

donate your time...

just one day a month or a year...
they need handled and petted and loved...
they need help on adoption days...
they need people will to go at anytime of the day or night to rescue and pick up stranded animals and drop them off where they will be taken care of...
we are on 24 hour call...
we have taken off in the middle of the night to pick up litters who need our help...

when you are cleaning out closets, cabinets and storage tubs...
don't throw out that old towel, throw rug or blanket...
we always need bedding...
small, shallow dishes...
old plastic containers for feeding or small litter boxes...
and of course the most common items...
food, litter, and toys...
cages, pet taxis and kennels...

and please, please spay and neuter your animals!
the shelters are so full...
and so many will never find forever homes...

  1. I cannot agree with you enough. All of my pets have been adopted through our local Humane Society. These shelters need all the help we can give - and the most important is to spay/neuter. Why people don't do it is beyond me. Now, how can I get my hands on that orange cutie pie in the photos:):):)? Thank you for calling much needed attention.

  2. We don't even have a local animal shelter, our local government is too cheap to help with one. We have never 'purchased' a dog, they've either been someone's throw away that we picked up on the side of the road, or that showed up on our doorstep, and never left. Buddy, the Doxie, was a give away, that we got, we are his 3rd home, and he was only 2. I promised him the day he arrived, that he was at his forever home.
We did get one at a shelter years ago,a Bassett Hound, but it was a kill shelter, and the man gave him to me, so he wouldn't have to put him down.

  3. A wonderful post, Tete! You said it! My sil ran a shelter/kennel for many years. One thing she was always looking for was old towels to clean up messes and dry off wet animals. You have such a good heart- xo Diana
