grab another cup of coffee...

our 4th started with a car show on the square...

there was a fair number of vehicles for it being the first year for this...

and the quality was good...

they were parked on 2 sides of the square...

so they could have the parade later around the other 2 sides...

we went up and took shots of the cars and watched the flag burning ceremony...

1964- learned to drive in a car like that...

people take their old flags to the VFW...

and they burn them in a ceremony...
with honor...

they do a 21 gun salute and a bugle is played...
much like a funeral...

2 members stand with the flags and place them one at a time in a barrel...

its pretty impressive...

and they stay there all day until all the flags are burnt...

we know these guys...
the one on the left used to be our neighbor, now he lives on his parents home place...
his son now lives in his house...
and the one on the right, built our deck...
along with the other guy behind his right shoulder blowing the bugle...

we went back up for the parade...

my old neighbor again...
(he's a farmer)
he pulled the Masonic Lodge float...

you can tell its a farming town, can't ya?

Miss Marilyn...
one of my favorite people of all time...
so much spunk...

and the more people the better...
golf carts are a thing here...

so is our fire department...
the fire department and VFW put this on for the town...

things then moved to another part of town...
where the pool, ball diamond and golf course are...

we got there and bought our raffle tickets...
which we won the 50/50!
and we parked our butts on the edge of the golf course to wait for the show...

and this was our view of the fireworks...
they set them off straight ahead of us and we could see it all perfectly...
it was the best display I have ever seen...
this is the second year we have had the fireworks back in our town for almost 30 years...
last year it was just the fireworks, so all the extra stuff is new this year...
and now we have started a new tradition here...
and its only going to get better...

I did pretty good until the end of the parade and I got so sick...
the guys brought me home and I was in the bathroom for a long time...
Craig and Doug's girlfriend, Paula grabbed my camera and went up and shot the wedding for me...
while DH and Doug took care of me...
I took a nap and we went over to the fireworks...
all I had to do was sit and watch and wasn't sure I was going to be able to do that...
but we got through it...
migraine today...
so will take as much time as I need this week to recover...
I am calling the dr in the morning and getting in...
to see what's going on with me now...
;0)
I hope you had a great time this weekend...
