as the world changes...

we got our good frost...
down to 28 by Sunday morning...

and the transition from living to dying has begun...

what was blooming the day before is no more in some places...

but the cold did not take it all...

some limbs are bare, some have color...
and some are still green...

we have officially begun the process of the change over...

from more dark than light...
and that dark will steal away the warmth of summer days...

there is still beauty...
from what once was...

and there are still blooms, for now...

this changing time happens so fast most years...

but this fall, for us...
is going slowly...
and without all the rain and dreary days that we usually have...

this week, the sanding begins on the kitchen cabinets...
prep work on the walls...

my boys are going to help a lot here...
and we will knock this out...

and float right through this week of Indian Summer...
with highs near 80...
warmer nights coming...
maybe a fire in the pit or two...

harvest is winding down, finally...
and DH thinks this was the last full weekend to work...
I hope so...
it will be nice having him back...
;0)

enjoy this week...
we won't have many more like them...

  1. Tete, The potato vine on my porch is turning black...for Halloween maybe...I think it was the cold snap. Our back yard is full of leaves...I will hope for the wind to carry some away. We have sunshine this morning but I have heard the heat click on yesterday . Blessings for a nice new week and fun with your big kid there to help you. xoxo,Susie

  2. Another very pleasant post. - Fall does bring it's own beauty. It's still a little sad to say good-bye to the flowers but they will come again.

  3. I don't get by as often as I would like to but I wanted to say that your posts are always so pretty. You have a way of seeing the light even in the darkest of times, even with the changing of the days. We are enjoying a wonderful Indian summer here, I wish it could last forever. I just love the cooler evenings and the sunny crisp days. Then comes the clean-up...

  4. I hope the remodel process is going smoothly. I watch the HGTV shows sometime and I laugh out loud! My hubby says if we all had top of the line tools and a crew like they have of course you can build a mansion! LOL! We spent the summer working around our house, painting etc. Still have the basement to finish next Spring and we need our carpets cleaned upstairs. Always something to do. Take care. Doug is in my prayers too, I hope he can find more work. Hugs, Anne
