storm damage and a trip to the ER...

Wednesday started out like a beautiful day...
and after lunch, I checked my son's legs for swelling...
and found a very nasty dark, swollen left leg...
just above the ankle and going up 5 inches or so all the way around...
I called my husband home, changed my clothes and took that boy to the ER...
it wasn't a blood clot, my biggest fear...
but he has cellulitis...
and they gave him antibiotics...
we grabbed his meds, stopped and ate supper before heading home...
the rain began before we got the hospital and continued to pour on our way home...
it lightened up just as we came into our town...
we were inside maybe 10 minutes when IT hit...
I saw rotation in the trees, big trees...
it hit hard, fast and didn't last long...

we are ok-
we lost 2 big limbs on the edges of the yard...
lots of debris...

on the north edge...

the neighbor's across the street...

we were very lucky...
there were trees on houses in town...
my friend lost his truck when a tree fell on it in another town over...
NO ONE WAS HURT!

it had to be a tornado aloft and it never touched down...
so grateful for no damage to anything important here...
and that we were home and not on the road in the van when it hit...

Doug's leg was already improving yesterday after one dose...
he was so afraid to show us...
or go to the doctor...
I jerked a knot in his tail...
never hide anything like that again...

yesterday was a slower day, Craig going back to work and dropping Doug off at home on his way...
having peace and quiet for my nap...
DH getting off work and us running to another town to pick up his new glasses...
a quick trip through Dollar Tree and grabbing a bite to eat on the way home...

TONIGHT- when DH gets home...
he wants me on the mower, pulling the wagon while he walks the yard and picks up what cannot be mowed...

so much for a slower, more quiet weekend...
;o)
but we are ok and that's what matters most...

hope you missed that storm, Susie...

  1. Tete, I am so thankful you did not get worse than you did there. It's scary. I've seen lots of tree and building damage west of us from the last big storm. Good for you getting your son to the dr. Why are our men folks so darn stubborn about seeing the drs.? Maybe you can enjoy some time on your sweet deck. Blessings, xoxo, Susie

  2. That was terrible-that storm did such damage there. I am just glad no one was hurt-that is the good part of it all.
Have fun 'working' with hubby! Maybe you can just be 'the boss'. xo Diana
