another scorcher of a day, but then...

we have 10 whole days in a row with a chance of rain...
so hopefully a couple of them will bring us some relief from this drought...

but, there is not one Japanese beetle on the rose of sharon this year...
I have only found one this whole summer, and it was on the cone flowers...
I did hear one cricket 2 nights ago...
but not since...
I miss them...
I miss the tree frogs singing, too, in the night...
the flies are even gone again...
they came in with the last cold front...
I hate to say it, but I am so ready for fall...
the leaves are falling already and the yard has the shades of fall going on...
I know it won't be a pretty one, but it will be cooler...

DH went to his cousin's step dad's funeral yesterday...
his uncle Raymond died at 25 from a diabetic coma...
he had a daughter who was so small at the time...
and when his widow remarried, this man took and raised that little girl as his own...
and they stayed close to the family always, having 3 more boys, who weren't really related to DH...
but they accepted each other as cousins...
DH spent a lot of time with his step uncle and aunt...
and was best friends all the way through school with one of the boys...
for DH, it was like burying his second dad...
so if you could, keep them all in your prayers this week...
this man was 86 and ready to go...
and the family all know he is much happier where he is now...
but it's still hard giving them back...
and the adjustment you have to go through when someone leaves this earth...

hope your week is a good one...
and take time to spend with those still on this side while you can...
you never know when someone will be called home...

  2. Sorry about the loss of a loved one. Never easy to say goodbye.
No rain here, and very little chance of any. I will water the flowers and the 6 tomatoes, and maybe a pepper or two, and then let the rest turn brown.

  3. Love your double rose of sharon, Tete. Sounds like even the insects have deserted your area. (?) What's up with that? I seem to have more than ever and I'd be glad to share!
Condolences on the loss of a special person in your family. You are right, you never know when you or someone you love will be called home. Relationships come first: first with God, then with others. Love one another as I have loved you ~ Jesus.

    Hugs, Beth

  4. Oh- Tete- I am so sorry to hear about your hubby's 2nd dad. It is hard to lose them no matter how old they are. It makes me wonder how your Dad is doing now?

It is hot here today, too. We hit 100 degrees...too hot for me. I am watering a bit but I am sure that will be banned before long.

Off to bed here- I am taking the three girls over to Lake Michigan shore tomorrow for three days. Lots going on...Love to you- xo Diana
