Monday madness...

we got half an inch of rain Saturday night...
it was just the kick in the pants things needed around here...
the corn is just shooting up...
you know the old saying that you can hear it grow at night?
well, I think we can...

we had blue skies and white fluffy clouds here today...
but it had clouded up now and could rain a little later on...
hopefully, we can get the photo shoot in...

the asian lilies and yucca are blooming in the mothers' garden...

and the roses just keep on coming...

got these dead headed this morning...

the peonies are fading away...
and we will dead head them in the morning...

but the lilies are taking over now...

as one thing fades away for another year, something else pops open...

cone flowers will be next in line...

the yucca out back are pretty tall now...

and we harvested the lavender this morning...

I always associtated these with cemeteries...
the only place I ever saw them when I was a kid was in the cemeteries...
so, I knew they were an old plant from days gone by...
then a neighbor offered us some a few years ago...
we went running with the shovels...

I love them...

just so pretty...
and they attract lady bugs...
did you know that?

I got 4 big bundles and 2 small ones out of the one lavender plant in the back...
I have another one in bed in front of the shed that I am leaving for now...
I am going to dig the one in the back and divide it up and place it in other beds this week...

I had Craig run around to our picket pile and grab and old weathered fence picket to hand them on...

hung them from the deck roof to finish drying...

going to leave here in about half an hour to take pictures of Eli...
I hope he is in a happy mood...
the lighting is good even with the overcast...
should come out if he cooperates...
;)

  2. Tete, I love the way you hung the lavender to dry. I know you recycle things, that's a plus. We rarely waste wood , rocks , or bricks here.xoxo,Susie
