running behind again...

on Thursday, I took my life in my own hands...
and let junior do the driving...
he was laughing at my peril...

we went over by the school to see some new construction going on...
they added an enclosure to the main door of the grade school...
it will contain a security camera and you will be buzzed in by someone in the office...
the schools will be locked down during the day...
they also put new triple pane windows across the front where the offices are...
the old ones were single pane from the 60s and a bit drafty...
this is going to help with the heating and cooling bills...

then there is major construction going on to prevent future flooding for us...
it starts all the way on the other side of town with new storm sewer drains going in...

then there's road construction going on...
they ground down the top of the road to resurface it...
plenty of dump trucks running through there today...

so after our trip to the grocery store...
we decided to get out of town and all the work going on...

its more peaceful out here...

it was a wonderful day to be on a country road...

there are corn and beans every where...

loved this road sign...
it you sit still long enough here...
something's going to grow over you...

queen anne's lace and clover in front of a bean field...

love this old gate...

and finally...
one of my favorite things...

cows!

too busy eating to talk to me...

Craig calls them future hamburgers of America...

love white face cows...
hadn't seen one in many years...

isn't she pretty?
that's where chocolate milk comes from...

spa day...
standing in the middle of the creek...

and then this old girl wasn't even going to give me the time of day...
she kept calling over her shoulder for the others to follow...
but they weren't done wading and grazing, so she took off in a huff...
yeah...
she was udderly ticked off...
get it?

;)
got my day off today with the old man...
and I have so much to get caught up on here with you...
where did the last few days go?
its just been too nice to be inside after the cold front went through...
have a good weekend!

  1. Looks like a very blessed and calm day, after you got away from construction. Pretty cows, I love watching them, and their calves. Horses too, are fun to watch. A place not far from us has a herd of young goats, and they let them out to graze on the grass around their house, I'll have to try and get a shot of that, someday soon.

I also love those old gate, I don't even know why, I laughed about what Craig said about the cows. Oh I just thought it was something a young man would say...so funny. Enjoy your pretty day, it's is nice here too. xoxo,Susie

  4. I loved seeing all about your day, Tete. Cows are often very curious and will leave what they are doing to come to the fence near where you are. xo Nellie
