DH was off Saturday and Craig was off Sunday...
so I had a weekend with the guys...
DH and I did the grocery shopping and Walmart run...
ate supper out...
Craig and I took a drive in the country...
between laundry, dishes, cooking and cleaning...
we had fog this morning and the sun is just now coming out...
and its going to be right around 80 for the next few days...
we got about a third of an inch of rain from the hurricane spin offs...
South Carolina wasn't so lucky...
the images are just horrific...
and people have lost so much...
the farmers are still picking here...
some working some dirt in between...
prices of corn are down, so we think they are leaving it longer in the field hoping they won't have to pay the drying fees...
there is a lot already done, but so much more to go, yet...
it would be nice if they were all finished before Halloween...
and they could've been easily, but waiting for better prices is something they need to do...
as long as it doesn't backfire...
one wind storm will knock it down and then picking will be an ugly monster...
the white thing is a ground pile...
when they no longer have room in the bins...
the corn goes here...
and the metal thing in front is called a stacker...
I am having better days...
figured out it was the Metformin that was making me so sick and hurt more than normal...
called the doctor's office and going in on Thursday to see if there is something else I can take...
didn't get much of anything at Walmart...
a pair of gloves and ear muffs...
a couple things of yarn...
shampoo, body wash and vitamins...
we really do lead a boring life...
McD's had Big Macs on sale, so we ate there for supper...
we don't get those very often at all, so was fun doing it...
we hit Kroger for the groceries and had the back seat full in the van...
its easy putting things in the cart and hauling them to the van...
but all the trips from the van inside and then finding a place to put everything isn't for wimps...
and we are wimps...
we both took naps after we got it all done...
;0)
hope your weekend was wonderful...
I know that many spent the weekend in the area pumpkin patches...
;0)
I miss having time to do fall stuff...
since DH has been working at harvest time these past years...
we didn't always have to do harvest...
we were normal once...
long ago...
;0)
have good days!
Great post, Tete. We forget, when we are removed from farming, how hard it can be-depending on crops for a living---and the harvest itself never being easy work.
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures as always. Glad you had a good time with the boys this weekend.
I still do not have my fall on here....had two sick girls here for the last two days. Hoping tomorrow is a better day. xo Diana
Hi Tete, what a great post filled with harvest photos as only you can shoot!
ReplyDeleteI know you are having a very busy time of the year and in all ways, a blessing in what you and your DH do.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of the week. Hugs, cm
