its raining again...

Hermie...
its really hard to find a seat on the deck these days...

and this was the first time in a long time that it wasn't covered with bodies of some sort...

and there is the cold front coming in last night...
got up to 41 this morning and its not warming up at all...

I have buds on the columbine already...

and see there?
those are the iris buds...
it won't be long...

and on our walk last night after supper...
Bebe found some of his friends playing outside...

and no matter how busy they are...
they always have the time for an old dog...
and he loves it!

and as a light drizzle is going on, I looked out and so my old friend...

he is much smaller that the sparrows...
my first sighting this year...
I love the blue buntings...
my camera will not focus well on dark days...
so when the weather clears, I will post better photos of him...

got Craig home today so we are washing the curtains in the living room and then a load of whites...
need to figure something out for supper...
haven't a clue, but have to do something...
we cleared out the left overs last night...
I am thinking about chili on this cold, drizzly day...

y'all have a wonderful day...
God has blessed us with so much...
take a moment and thank Him!

you never know what you will find when you pop in here...

before a thought happened...

the thought...

after the thought...

parchment paper...
3 sheets strung together with my favorite tape...

and placed in the china cabinet...

with just a tad of 2 way tape...
and its not finished...
there's more to the thought...
just have to find what will fill the vision I have...
DH doesn't want me to paint his mother's china cabinet and I don't want to do that either...
but it needs to be lightened up inside...

and this morning at the feeder...
got a chance of thunderstorms later...
but so far, its been a really nice day with the windows open...

and my forsythia never did turn bright yellow...
it just went green...
I think when it had the buds on is when we had those 2 very cold nights...
in the low 30s and a heavy frost both nights...
I have to wait a whole year for yellow now...
;(
oh well, still not as bad as others have it today...
at least its still there...
and we haven't been asked to start over...

hope you are having a good day...
not a bad one here...
waiting for the guys to get off of work...
maybe I will even cook them supper...
maybe...
;)

its raining tonight as I post this...

mums...
we didn't get the very bad storms here...
praying for those who did...

knock out rose...
but we have gotten some really good rain...
without the flooding, so far...

columbine...
and everything just shot up over night...

cone flower...
had a down day today...
did too much yesterday...

so taking tomorrow for a rest day, too...

Bebe...
he turned 15 last month...

grape hyacinths...
both guys are working tomorrow so Bebe and I can nap all day if we want to...

lilies...
it has cooled off with the front moving through...

lily of the valley...
and I am thinking chili would be good sometime this week while we are in the 50s...

ferns...
got my blood sugar under control and am on day 5 of no metformin at all...

most of my daffodils are spent...
too wet to go out and dead head yet...
Craig is off Wednesday, so I will get them done then...
I miss them already...
April has flown by so fast...
I can't believe its almost gone...
that May 1st is coming...
now that its warmer, time can slow down a bit!
hope you all had a good Monday...
and that tomorrow is even better!
hugs!

running late with my post today, but I have a very good excuse!

well, here are the jar lights at night...

pretty cool...

and if you spin these, it looks like a disco light on the deck!
DH was impressed...

and this morning we hit the ground running...
rain was moving in and we had some things to get done...
we started raking the area between us and the neighbor, then headed here...
raked and moved around...
ready for planting...

it was windy and cool so we all had on sweatshirts when we started...
we grabbed the bag of glad bulbs and started planting...

DH noticed this needed cleaned out so he sat down here...
and the shed is up off of the ground on runners...
and all of a sudden we heard a scream, like that of a little girl...
Lester had crawled under the shed and when DH was grabbing a handful of leaves, Lester grabbed him...
DH had no clue what was grabbing him...
scared the BLEEP out of him...
I run around the shed, thinking he might have fallen and hurt his elbow...
and he was sitting there holding it and laughing...
he had jerked back so hard he hurt his arm...

for those who don't know, this is a Lester...

but even with Lester's help, DH finally got the job done...

we had this many left out of 50, so Craig headed for the island...

and dug another hole...

and planted the rest of them...
thinking we were done...

but I turned around and saw the hydrangea and the ferns...
more raking and cutting off the dead...
then I saw the back of the deck...
hammer and nails to tack the lattice back up in the corner...
fixed the trap door there, too...
trimmed the tarp off so it doesn't touch the ground any more...

saw some planting going on...

watched our brats play...

when they weren't trying to help...
came in, made brunch and started in here...
made cole slaw, cut up the pineapple, threw in a load of laundry...
took a shower and then started on supper food prep....
kept working and cleaning and dishes while the guys took a nap...

sat on the deck a bit...

and look!
a baby!
its first appearance at the feeders!
mom and dad are showing him the ropes...

and I would bet you didn't know that we have flamingos on the prairie...
yep we do...
just wait until we get all the rain they say is coming...
and this is water front property again...
then they won't look so out of place...
the rains did come...
have had 2 bouts of them already and there is more coming up from Arkansas...
not good down there at all...
we hit 81 yesterday and 78 today...
going to cool off when this front goes through and will be in the 50s a few days...
so, there you go...
got a lot done today and I am still going at 9pm...
may not be able to get out of bed tomorrow, but we beat the rain...
hope your weekend was a good one!
;)

jar light tutorial and maple leaves...

I finally got around to putting these together!
you will need one funky blue jar, one one dollar solar light and some spanish moss...
all found at Walmart...
in various departments...

take the stake off the light and throw it away, you don't need it where we are going...
twist off the top...
and pull that orange tab out...

your light should come on...
put the top back on...

then place it upside down in the jar...
(you have to take the lid off of the jar first)

and kind of center it like this...
easy, huh?

then you open that goofy bag of messy spanish moss...
and get half of it on the floor...
then stuff what's not on the floor into the top of the jar...
put the lid back on...

and flip it over...
it should fit tight...
if it wobbles around, repeat the last step and stuff some more in there...

miss stamped!
it might be a collectible someday!

you just want enough moss to hold it in place but not all the way down inside...
do not cover your light up completely...

see, you can see its on...

and that's all there is to it...
no tools, just a mess...
and just under $5 each, now that's a bargain...
I put mine out on the bench in the full sun to charge up for tonight...
I will try to take some night photos of them, but this camera isn't very good at those night shots...

the der der der moment of my day...
super sticky resealable bag...
for spanish moss?
I don't think it was a girl who thought of this...
did I just call guys dumb???
YES I DID!

and now some outside shots, because its a beautiful day out...
shooting for 79F!

red maple leaves and its making helicopters!

sugar maples leaves...
I have waited all winter for this!

aren't they pretty?

does the old soul good to see all this spring stuff going on...

and another annoying thing...
our hybrid popular that some man(probably) grafted with a cotton wood...
the poof balls will be floating soon...

and seed pods will cover everything...
but that's ok, because its not snow...

and I wanted to show you this marriage!
my cheap cheese dome fits on the silver candy dish perfectly!
a match made in Heaven...

and for those of you who missed the last post, which was this morning...
the pillows I have been working on this week...
got 2 more coming as soon as I get them stuffed some more...
and if you want to see more about them, just head on down to the last post...
see what happens when the guys leave me home alone?
have a great weekend!
;)
the mower guy is here!
