Walnut Point State Park...

is located 3 miles north of our town...

DH and I took a drive through here after lunch...

things are blooming and leafing out...

the trees are still bare...

there are many places around the lake to have a picnic and fish...

it is windy out and you can see the wind moving the water...

another area for a picnic or group fun...

a camp site...

there are tent camping sites, too...

all along the road ways are fun surprises...

there are some ever greens...

and play grounds...

concession stand...

boat docks...

boat ramps...

rental boats...

not quite time to put them in the water...

but soon...

the under growth is very green...

the signs look like this...

this is how all the road ways look...

and purple is dotted here and there...

there are a lot of deer in here, but we didn't see one today...

it is raining a bit...

so they are laying low...

and this is coming out of the park...

we have spent so much time here in the past...

it's where we camped with the kids summer after summer...

we've fished the lake...

hiked the trails...

had picnics and cook outs...

birthday parties...

eat or just get ice cream...

the kids grew up here...

and we always drive through just to grab some inner peace...

it's so full of that...

and chipmunks...

so what did you do today?

tonight's slop...

to start with...

I cubed and boiled a batch of potatoes...

drained and dumped them into my cake pan for the base...

then on top of that, I dumped in a can of diced tomatoes...

fresh onions on top of that...

then a layer of hamburger fried, drained and ground in the processor...

add a package of taco seasoning...

some cheese slices on top of that...

and a can of refried beans...

you need to put them in a bowl and add a little water...

mix until creamy...

then you bake that at 350 for about 15-20 minutes...

when it smells good, I pull it out...

top with taco sauce, sour cream and cheese...

they said it was very good...

my version...

mashed potatoes, taco meat, taco sauce and sour cream...

I can do this on a good day even with the IBS...

I had a good day, so I got to do taco stuff, too...

it was good...

FYI- slop for us, are my own recipes...

things I make up as I go...

that have no name...

so this was Friday's slop...

it's a great way to get rid of left overs...

and I tend to stick to what ever is left in the fridge, freezer and cabinets right before we stock up again to get rid of anything that we have had for awhile and just didn't use...

things that normally don't go together, but end up being some of the best meals...

and it was ready when DH got home...

Robbie is always glad to see everyone come home...

and the yard got a little bit of rain today...

I think the worst is yet to come...

and the darker clouds are moving in...

tornado watch until 9pm...

the only thing I don't like about living on the prairie...

and in tornado alley...

we get some hum dinger storms in the spring...

have a safe night and heads up...

Craig just took off to feed a friend's dog...

she is disabled and some days she needs a hand...

then to the post office and store...

I have an idea for a slop meal...

it's very windy this morning...

and too cold to be out without a jacket...

so I will be spending the day inside, mostly, I'm sure...

smelling this...

while taking it easy here...

after we get everything straightened up first...

it feels like a putter kind of day...

no big goals...

will be off of the computer when the storms start rolling through...

do  you ever just sit and watch it rain?

one of my favorite things to do...

I think it's because we had a huge picture window in the living room when I was a kid...

and that's where I would be anytime it rained...

just watching it all unfold...

I love driving in rain...

I know I could be one of those crazy storm chasers...
