cute place settings for turkey day...

here are a few ideas that I found...
you still have time to find accents to spruce up your every day dinner ware...
a simple leaf plate...
nice for salads...
these are just so pretty and I would have to use them every day...
mix and match what you already have...
vintage looking patterns add custom look...
bold graphics add fun...
add white and off white to extend special pieces...
and if your family is like mine...
something funny on the table would fit right in...
but at my house...
you never see the dinner ware until we wash dishes when it's over...
the guys pile the food on and cover up all the pretty details...
and the years when I worked full time and the kids were still in school...
we did chinette...
toss is in the trash and the dishes are done...
it was enough to wash all the glasses, silverware, pots and pans...
besides...
it's the food and the company that they will remember...
right?

very simple ideas to decorate this year...

I was searching online very early this morning for some simple ways to spruce things up for Thanksgiving dinner, without going over board...
I really like this...
this is so easy...
this is a bit more, but there are several little things from this that you could do...
and not everyone is artsy fartsy...
and the less is more thing is appealing to me right now...
I like the 1st photo...
reminds me of a haystack...
colored many of them as a kid and it makes me think of Thanksgiving...
this is so simple...
water in vase, buy flowers and plop them in there...
nuts, candles and glass...
simple and elegant...
now this is cute and you can use this idea many different times a year...
pumpkin candle...
easy enough...
easy..
and cute...
just fill a basket with your left over gourds...
simple splashes of color...
from  your yard or market...
this is just wonderful...
plain, simple, timeless...
in 2 weeks, most of us will be eating left overs and another holiday dinner will go down in the books...
just a few simple ideas for you to follow up on...
I know many of you work either part or full time and every second counts...
so while you are shopping for that turkey or ham...
pick up a couple of small things to play with...
have a great weekend!

the frost this morning...

but it didn't do much damage...
the roses and snap dragons were untouched...
DH started putting leaves on the beds last weekend and they are still blooming through them...
a few leaves are still left on this small maple...
that crazy dusty miller will be doing ok by Christmas if this keeps up...
windy here, but sunny...
chilly...
warmer tomorrow, back in the 60s...
Craig and I sat out front on the bench awhile this afternoon getting our sun for the day...
too windy to walk but it felt good out of the wind in the sunshine...
DH is working tomorrow and hopefully, we will go in a check the booth on Sunday...
haven't heard anymore on Aunt Mary, so that's good news...
hopefully she will get to go home tomorrow...

you all have a great weekend!

all went well!

Aunt Mary just got out of surgery and all went well...
that's all I know...
for now...
thank you for all the prayers!

thank you just doesn't seem enough...

but it's all I have to give back...

remembering my father in law...
Harold...
who spent a year in hospitals on his way home in WWII...
who watched friends die over there...
who never forgot...
who called me every Veteran's Day and cried for the ones who didn't make it through...
he never forgot...
never...
always wondering why he was chosen to come home and others weren't...
you know , their tour is never finished...
not until the day they die...
they carry the war within them all that time...
that's a lot to ask of anyone...

one way to honor those that have been there and the ones still there...
is to respect what they have fought for and are still fighting for...
and be an example when the flag passes by...
the anthem is sung...
the pledge is said...
and remember them in your prayers daily...
put them first on your list...
first in your hearts...
that's where they have put you...
