a mid summer's night eve...

the street light is back...
power company made a mistake, but it was a nice 10 nights without it...

and we do have a few clouds...
just nothing with rain...

a neighbor's young tree is dying...

the moon was out...

buck corn...

Beau Beau is the flower bed...
bad boy...

some of the plants were a little stressed today...

brown is the most dominant color this year...

glad we added some color with a spray can...

just a few photos of the yuck...

broad leaf...

we do have a few birds left, but most have moved on to larger bodies of water...

and a few more clouds moving in as the sun went down...

just got back from our 10pm walk...
87 out but the wind is really blowing, so hoping it blows something in and all this icky out...
we have a chance of bad storms tomorrow...
and Mr Bullhead sees his doctor in the morning...

looking forward to some more rain!

the hottest day of the year...

that's what they are calling it...
but after today it will cool down a bit...

our low last night...
and this morning its 90% humidity so the heat indexes are going to be high...
temp, they say will only be 103...
but its going to feel worse than that...

I think DH is lucky to be on light duty the rest of the week...
he will get to sit inside in the ac...

I decided no yard work today...
the weekend will be much cooler and we can get more done then...

I hate to do it but tired of looking at it...
so cutting down the ferns and the worst out of here...

most of the deck plants have perked back up...

and are blooming again...

Daphne always finds the worst places to nap...
Craig and I have started on the front bedroom that we use for storage...
this is nothing but a box of boxes...
thought I would use them...
pitching and cleaning as we go...
only 30 minutes a day in there and we're out...

we are at a stand still now, though...
we only have 3 garbage cans and we have already filled up 2...
so that's the quota for the week...
need the other one for the "normal" trash...

Craig and Chris headed for Paris last night after supper and watched the new Batman movie...
the theater on the square there had closed but someone bought it and opened it back up...
$4 a movie isn't bad...
they brought me home a whopper later and it was still hot out when we ate on the deck...
but we had lightening...

so got in bed late, but woke up at 1:22 to big thunder...
crawled out of bed, peed and headed outside...
got to sit out there and hear it rain for a little bit...
at one point it just poured...
checked the rain gauge this morning and we got a whole tenth last night...

no watering for us today!
this is another area that needs cleaned out, too...

I did lay here with Daphne while it rained...
but didn't stay there long...
afraid I would fall alseep!

so I am thinking today, I might change this up...
maybe...
found some crap in that front bedroom nightmare...
I have totally too much crap...
its everywhere...
almost to the smothering point...
so I am purging again...
I have these moods every now and then...
I think its from being stuck inside too much this summer...
can you get cabin fever in the summer????
well, if you can, I may have it...
good for the house...
we will have the fall house cleaning done by August!

after DH's scare yesterday, he slept like a baby...
maybe the high blood pressure has been messing with his sleep...
he looked really good this morning...
said he felt pretty good, except for being old...
that probably won't change...

have a great day and play inside if its going to be hot where you are...
still working on that book...
can't sit still long enough to get it done...
not the best book, either...
but it will do...

city wide rummage sales are coming up next month...
think I had better stock up for the winter...
or go on ebay and find some...

well, off to start the house work...

high blood pressure...

Steve has been having trouble with his left hand and thinks its the same problem he had 4 years ago with his right...
he had to have wrist and elbow surgery then...
so he told them at work and this morning, his boss took him to the company doctor...
while there to check the other things, they took his blood pressure...
220/103...
that was a ticket to the local ER and they put him in a room...
tons of test later confirmed that he had not had a stoke and there were NO blood clots in his brain or lungs...
he had 0 symptoms...
they kept asking him questions about all kinds of things and he said NO to all of them...
no headaches, no nose bleeds...
nothing...
so they gave him 5 BP pills and I called his doctor as soon as he got home...
sees him Thursday morning...
he is on light duty until then...
and he didn't call me...
he was a bad boy...

things always happen for a reason...
and since Mr Bullhead wouldn't go to the doctor before when I asked him to...
so glad he is having trouble with his left hand...
they will get around to taking care of that after they get his BP stable...
and lowered...
he thinks I am the cause of his high BP...
I don't think so...
after all...
I'm sweet and lovable...
right???

anyway, pray for him...
cause if he hits the ER again...
and I don't get a call...
I'm punching him in the nose...

I will keep you posted on his condition...
have a good night...

mornin'...

we are cloud covered this morning and did have 3 sprinkles happen...
so I got Craig up early and we headed out here...
the dreaded side yard...

cuttin' things back and pulling others out, just getting ready for fall...
not sure when that's going to happen, but we all know it will...
its so dry...
even the rocks need watered...

saw a brown cricket and a brown grasshopper...
which may not seem strange to you...
but ours are supposed to be black and green...

I guess so they can hide in all the brown...

mums are coming along here...
but these are my burgundy ones...
look yellow this time...

we pulled some on the dianthus and cut back the ferns and lilies...
looks much better...

got rain coming maybe on Thursday...
like more than an inch...
had to get this out before that because this will mold and cause rot on the roots...

this old wicker chair is in its last season...
so need to come up with something else next year for the bird bath...

see the cloudy skies?
the low temp was 83 last night, but the cloud cover kept it there for a bit...
humidity and dew points are in the high 70s, so we moved slow...
very slow...

these little blue flowers grow along the fields and roadways around us...
they are a weed, but a pretty weed...
love the blues...
if it weren't so dry and I don't want to break another shovel...
I would start digging these and transplanting them in my flower beds...
maybe next year...

it was good to play in the dirt again...
even though I think we ate a bunch of it...
it was flying around every time we raked or sifted the weeds out...
gardened in my night gown, I did...
then got my shower while the photos were downloading on here...
a couple hours in the garden is good for the soul...
some day the rains will come back and soak this earth again...
until then, we'll just have to make due...
you all have a blessed day...
one more thing...
thought I would share this with you...
my niece posted it on facebook last night and it put a smile on my face...

I could use on of those...
and the six pack better not be beer...
are you smiling yet?
thought so...

9-12 inches...

that's what they say we need to alleviate the drought here...
dragon fly didn't make it...

but there are a few things still going here and there...

the beans had perked up, but are back to stressing now...

there is still a little window of time for them...

Tory chasing bugs in the field...

a few roses here and there...

yucca seed pods...
probably nothing in them...

worked a bit in the side yard this morning...
just cleaning and pulling weeds...
not a lot to work on in the gardens until we start cutting things back...

we have a small chance of rain for the next four days...
but less than a tenth each day...
we sure don't need that 9-12 inches to fall all at once...
it wouldn't have anywhere to go...
we do have 10 mph winds today, which is nice...
moving air feels cooler...
heat advisory again...

not sure what we will end up cleaning today...
there is always something that needs done inside...
would just rather be out there instead...

grateful that we have central air and can get away from the blast...
its got to end sometime...
hugs to all of you!
