Look in the Nook...

if you love graphics...
you have to go see Jany...
let me tell you...
no, no...
I'll just show you...
this is what I made from graphics found at...
Look in the Nook...
and there's more there!
she has the best graphics...
the best I have found in a long time...
I can't wait to mix her fun with my fun...
it ought to be so cute!
can't wait to make cards...
this one I am going to frame for my bedroom for sure!
I use her calendars for my background now...
make sure you check them out...
she does several every month...
I missed January!
I almost cried, they were so pretty...

workin' it...

got the glue gun out and put these together...
I have  a project or two planned for later...
just wanted these ready to go for it...
and these smaller ones...
Dh grabbed the mail this morning and these came...
some were very dirty...
so I washed them...
1/2 gallon of water...
one to two drops of blue Dawn...
one capful of bleach...
low nap cloth...
see the dirt just on one card?...
yuck...
check out the swastika...
it was a sign of good luck, much like the four leaf clover...
until Hitler used it...
I have found many old postcards with it on them...
they will slightly curl until they dry and then they go back flat...
yeah. more big letter postcards...
my current passion...
and while I had a bucket of cleaning water ready...
I started on this book I got a couple weeks ago...
now the scratches are there...
nothing to be done about it...
but the filth on it has to go...
the spine was bad...
this is the back...
the bottom part has been washed once...
the spine inside...
the glue turns to dust after many years...
some people use binders glue...
not me...
paper is a wood product...
wood glue works so well...
put plenty on...
the extra will ooze out the ends and you just wash that off...
fold the cover back over and gently rub, rub, rub the spine...
pushing all the glue into every nook and cranny...
here it is after one washing and gluing...
it needs to dry 24 hours before I touch it again...
I will wait at least 48...
just a reminder of how it looked...
I have done so many boxes of books...
the worse they look, the more I want them...
you can get a box of them at the auctions for a dollar a box...
now, when you start to wash the old fabric covers like this one...
you will get the dye off of it too...
but that's ok...
you want to pull off the oxidized dye...
it contains the layer of dirt and mold spores...
the bleach in the water will kill all mold spores...
when it becomes damp...
you quit and let it dry overnight...
then hit it again...
you can use Q-tips for small areas that you need to concentrate on...
just dip in the cleaning water...
roll dry on a folded paper towel...
and always, rub with the grain...
give it a try...
it's not hard...
really...

Happy mornin' to you...

it's time to roll out of bed...
get your clothes on...
and head for the nearest thrift store...
or antique mall...
and find some treasures today...

I've got an ear ache...
so I'm shopping from home...
went to bed before 8 last night...
then woke up just before the guys went to bed...
blog hopped and went back to bed...
got up so stinkin' early...
had breakfast 2 hours ago...
everyone is still snoring here...
I think I'm going to lay back down with the heating pad again...
got to be up when the guys get up so I can start bossing them around...
it should be a fun day...
using the hot glue gun later...
burnt fingers is one of my favorite smells...
and it happens every time...
I think I will make some more tags later, too...
and I have to try these easy to do cookies from NanaDiana's blog...
I'll blog later and let you know how it all turns out!
Have a super sweet day!

Postcard Friendship Friday...

I bought this postcard on eBay some time ago...
this is the Columbian Building in my town...
the backof the postcard stamped 26 April 1909...
a blow up of the front of the building...
the old stairs were still there until just a couple years ago...
they were taken down for safety reasons...
the old gaslight that used to hang in the intersection of Main and Pike Streets...
the building as it is today...
it is in the process of being restored and is used a community building...
we have many functions in here throughout the year...
the inside has been stripped completely and bathrooms added...
the inside is brick walls, tin ceilings, cast iron poles for support and wood floor...
pin tucking was done on the back wall and side...
it was sand blasted and sealed...
new windows on the side and back...
new heating system and lights...
the building is owned by the city...
saved by donations...
it was to be torn down...
my boys and I crawled every inch of that floor with hammers pulling nails before it could be used...
we cleaned and hauled trash...
and we have enjoyed the use of it now for several years...
and we are a town of about 1000...
it even housed a 2 lane bowling alley upstairs years ago...
the man who used to pin spot still in his teens still lives here in town...
I always look for postcards from our town...
and sometimes...
I get real lucky...
Happy PFF to everyone!

awards...

I have received a couple awards in the last week...
from two of the sweetest ladies around...
and they touch my heart daily in their posts and comments...
I can't imagine my days here without them...
and I just wanted to thank them...
just for thinking about me...
I have already been given these awards before...
but it still means so much to be thought of...
first is the versatile blogger award...
from Donnie...
and then I got the stylish blogger award...
from Simply Debbie...
both of them so deserve these awards...
they have the biggest hearts and brightest spirits...
their blogs are real and honest...
and they post from the heart...
and they just make the world a better place for being in it...
if you haven't visited them yet...
then it's time you met Donnie and Debbie...
you will be so glad that you did...
Thanks again, girlfriends...
you're the best!
I have already answered the questions and passed these awards on before, so I don't think I'm supposed to do it again...
but I can accept the awards and the thoughts behind them...
