oh, where to begin?

I am not sure what is happening with this week...
but it's been passing me by...
I have allergies that have turned into a cold...
it hit my chest yesterday...
slept most of the days away on cold meds...
not getting a lot done at all...
these photos I took yesterday morning...
and I haven't taken one today...

we did get 1.3 inches of rain yesterday...
yippee...
and then we have thunderstorm warnings until 2am now...
it is clouding up and hopefully the nasty hail will not come...
just rain...

we started working on fence sections...
taking the old ones off of the boards so we can upuse the pickets...
but it was in the high 90s today, so we just cleaned inside and cooked...
tomorrow we will hit it again...
I have not been much help at all...

tried to price things this morning...
after an hour search for a drill bit...
honestly, they are here somewhere...
Craig went to the hardware store to get one...
got the signs drilled and hangers on them and priced...
bagged and in the tote...
more magazine bundles in there, too...
then...
we couldn't find the tape dispenser...
it's huge...
how can you lose that?
I did!
it's ALWAYS on the shelf above the desk with the staple gun...
so, it grew legs and walked off all by itself...
now, after digging and hunting through all of my cubbies here...
we now need to clean and sort and put all of that back...
tomorrow...
it will be better tomorrow...
yep, one of those days...
but...
we ate good...
and I need to hop now...

White Wednesday...

this week, I am sharing a few more images...
for you to use in your playtime...
or for just a grin while you visit...
tinted images are one of my favorites...
and vintage postcards of white roses...
a little bit of something before the beaches close...
Happy White Wednesday!
click for the party...

walnut caterpillars...

this is our second batch of them this year...
they turn into a very pretty small brown moth...
but the caterpillars can do extensive damage to the walnut trees...
so these were taken care of today...
the first batch were in the top of the tree before we knew it...
so they got away...
we have 6 walnuts, 5 of them being very young trees...
it wouldn't take much to kill them at all...
so, these guys had to go...
also burnt 2 bunches of bagworms on the north side this morning...
haven't had them in years...
you need to take the limb off and burn it to kill the worms...
a pretty dove on a wire...
I got up in the wee hours sick again and have had a yucky day...
slept through the afternoon...
nursed down some mashed potatoes...
and crackers...
such a pretty day and I am stuck in here...
DH trimmed trees and hauled the limbs to the burn pile...
there's a meatloaf in the oven for me and they are doing hamburgers tonight...
2 of the babies will be ready to go in a  week...
but Tori won't be...
she is a little slow with the kitten food...
so still doing a bottle of beef baby food and water to get her through to her next step...
I'm going to be keeping her, I think...
she's my buddy...
and she bites DH's toes...
that's always a good thing...
hope you are having a good Monday...
I haven't been on here at all today, so I am going to try to hop some...
Craig did the photos today and I think he did a great job...
thanks little dude...

soaking up summer...

before it slips away...
the last weeks of fun...
mums coming on...
haven't needed the mower for weeks...
but the inch of rain did amazing things overnight...
and the green is trying so hard to come back...
there is still areas of brown and the cracks in the yard are still there...
and it didn't take long for the breezes today to turn the dark brown earth back to tan...
but, it's an inch...
and every little bit helps...
and rain water is so much better than anything we can give them out of the hose...
there was lots of lightening last night...
so the nitrogen was plenty...
hopefully we will get some more later this week...
and I imagine it will be back to watering tomorrow...
but just for today, we took a break...
and just hung out...
DH is off for a whole week...
just maybe we'll get something done...
have a great night...

come play with me in the corn...

sitting under the walnut on the back edge of our property...
sitting in the city limits...
looking into country...
the corn field is outside of the city limits...
so I will show you country...
and how fall is creeping up on the stalks...
how the ears are finished...
and beginning to drop...
and how something else comes creeping...
and the weeds are taller than the corn...
where anything that isn't crop is considered a weed...
whether or not if it blooms...
morning glories are not planted here...
they are free...
they creep in along the edge of the fields...
to climb the stalks of corn...
no one that I know of plants morning glories here...
they come up everywhere and we have to pull them out of the flower beds...
they will choke out what they can...
if you let them...
no...
we don't  plant them here...
and most farmers spray for them...

so if you stand on the west side of our railroad ties...
you are in town...
but if you step over them...
you're in the country...
the best of both worlds...
city water, sewer, trash removal and cable...
and morning glories, corn stalks, and peace...
we have washboard clouds today...
we got an inch of rain with thunderstorms moving through last night...
many prayers were answered...
too late for the corn crop...
but maybe it will help the soy beans...

praying today that we all get what we need when we need it...
have a blessed Sunday...
