wind, wind and more wind...

they issued a red flag warning today...
because of the 30 mph winds and low humidity...
no burning nothing...

but it blew and blew...

I was out with my earmuffs on...

and we tried to go for walks...
but ended up back here behind the bushes...

do you dress your animals???
well, when the poor dog shivers, I dig out his duds...
he even has jammies with a trap door...

shadows...

leaves...

Daphne...

a little bitty baby lightening bug...
can you believe it?

he is wishing I would quit taking photos of him cuz he thinks he looks silly...
he asked me not to post this, but I couldn't resist...

now- need your help...
a friend moved and has things coming up in her new yard and would like to know what these are...
its got a yellow slipper flower like a snap dragon...

and this is a tree, maybe really big bush...

and this???
I haven't seen this in over 30 years and cannot remember what it is...
so if you could id these, it would be great!

have a great night!
cooler weather heading this way...

our Easter was eggscellent!

my version of the 3 crosses...
most of you know I do not sleep all night...
and if I do, I am a very early riser...
so this morning...

I thought this looked so pretty sitting in the dark, alone...

thinking about the meaning of the day...
just what it means to overcome...
hell, death and the grave...

DH got me this little angel for Easter...

and she stands in the shadow of the cross...
as I sat at the table...
looking at a bag of sugar marshmallow eggs...
I thought of how fun it used to be on Easter morning when the kids were small...
the hiding of the eggs, the baskets, the excitement of the morning...
so I grabbed that bag and began...
why not?
they might be 26 and 31, but hey, they're still my kids...
and I hid the whole bag...

Doug came pretty early...
got me and Craig both up...
and Doug grinned when he saw the eggs and Craig grabbed a bowl and started finding them...
it began the day in a good mood...
then we went out for a walk...
Easter pansies from DH...

and Doug looked at the blooms...
and we all talked about plans for the summer...

and I took photos as we went...

it is just amazing...

at all the wonderful colors out there...

we came back in and started working on dinner...

and we all did something, working together....

we ate until we were stuffed and a couple of us took another walk...

the kids crashed in the living room...

and later on, DH and I decided to nap...
because the snoring from the living room was in stereo...

Craiger playing the Easter Bunny...
I told him he needed ears...

when DH and I were walking, on the way back...
we saw our neighbor...
he was looking at the rose bush...
I knew instantly what was happening...
he was thinking of her...
I could see the sadness in the slumping of his shoulders...
his head slightly bent...
this rose bush is 7-8 years old...
and a few of the buds opened today...
he planted this rose bush just outside the living room window for his wife...
so she could see it from inside...
Sue died 6-7 years ago...
she didn't get to see it this big, with so many blooms...
he was thinking of her...
how appropriate that it would bloom this morning...
his eyes were moist and I knew he was having a hard moment...
so we talked a spell...
I said holidays are the worst, aren't they?
they sure are, was his reply...

if you had your family around you, your spouse...
you were blessed today...

He's coming back...

will you be ready to go?

its a new world's record!

at approximately 0900 hours...
the mission began...

notice the lap blanket under the grill...
my idea...
no scratches...

meanwhile...
I came in to warm up...

and I popped in and out every now and then...

as the hours ticked away...

another check on progress...
still some parts to go...

but they kept at it...

and after studying the manual for hours last night...
DH still went by the book...
now, I am the kind of gal who can look at a picture and sit down and assemble it...
not DH...
you have no idea how hard it is for me to keep my mouth shut when he goes by the book...
no idea...
but I am getting better at it...
and instead of offering "ideas" on making things move along a little faster...
I took the job of screw girl when it was offered...
he would read off what he needed and I would count out the exact amount and with mouth firmly shut, hand them over...
and then I came back in again...

at around noon, 2 fellers walked into my house and announced the mission was complete and they were finished...
asstounded, to say the least...
I grabbed the camera and walked outside, only to find that they were not finished...
sure the grill was together...
(I picked it out)
but they had failed to do the clean up...
so they came back out and it was all put back in the box for trash guy to nab on Monday...
so there you go...
manual said 1 hour...
my guys did it in 3!
its a new record and they are proud...

so, since there was daylight left...
bwahahaha!
we got this done...

just itching to plant something...
and I think I need a frog sitting on that rock...

this is a water feature...
but the pump gave out and until I get another one...
it can sit here...
but, just might drill some holes in the bottom...
and plant some wave petunias in there...
