our prairie Monday night...

right around supper time, just after DH got home...
and he was just over an hour late last night...

there were combines in the field behind us...
busy getting things done...

we were on our way to the local high school jv football game...

but we took time to stop and watch the harvest happening right here in our back yard...

this field is usually one of the last ones taken in...
been like that for over 30 years...

and always done with red machines...
and they added a john deere this year...

the coyotes cannot hide back there anymore, now...
so hoping this helps in their appearances here lately...

the corn from there is in the 2 red wagons in the middle of the line for the elevator...
and this elevator stayed open until 7 last night...

on our way to the game...

we lost, but the boys played very well...
considering...

we are an A conference team here...
small school...
and they played a AAA team who needed to pick up some games this year to fill in their calendar...
it was a non conference game- which means it doesn't count against us at all...
just good practice and much need experience...

and as we left, we circled the "block"...
which is the back side of the elevator...

they finish out dumping whoever is in line at the shut off...
so, they were there after 7pm...

and that's the life as fall begins here...
it all revolves around the harvest and the kids...
and will for the next 6 weeks or so...
depending on the weather and how fast they can pull the crops from the fields...

prayers for a safe harvest...
it is a massive affair...
with massive equipment...
and the strongest, toughest people you will ever meet...
doing this for their families and the world...
and they are our neighbors and friends here...
;0)

hope your week is starting off on the right foot...
got things off here to a slow start yesterday...
but its going...
got the ac back on...
;0)
but that heat sure felt good a couple of mornings...
and we know the furnace still works...
that's always a good thing to know before you really need it...
;0)

don't have any big plans today...
probably some laundry, since I am down to the bras that I don't like that well...
and I am going to eat some more brownies...
well, maybe just one...
or half of one...
they are awesome...
have good days!

it was a fall weekend...

I slept so well Friday night...

I had a hard time moving when I got up Saturday morning...

so around 9 we went for our drive and I am so glad we did...

the skies were amazing...

and I had to wear a sweater!

we even got down in the mid 40s by Sunday morning...

we did house work things...
and stuff like that...

and I spent some time with the babies...

Einstein and Bender, napping before Jane from the humane association came to get them...

Einstein, I miss them already...

Bender, the house is too quiet without little paws...
and Jane even took Sadie with them...
they will be going up for adoption this week at PetSmart...

that only leaves Sarah here with us...
and she is staying here...
I will get newer photos of her soon...
and let you see her now...
she really hasn't grown much...
just like her mama...
she will be very small...

DH and I did Paris yesterday morning...
just Walmart, which we got out of there for under $17!
and Kroger...
Burger King stop on the way out of town finished it off...
and we ate lunch when the groceries were brought in and put away...
made brownies this evening...
and some potato salad for the week...
kitchen all cleaned up again...
and that's the way it went...
much too fast...
we did see a couple of bare fields going over...
corn and beans...
harvest has begun...
thankful for this last weekend with DH before the crazy happens...
hope your weekend was great...
and that your week is even better!
;0)

PS:
I discovered this weekend that gmail has different folders that your mail goes into...
I had always used yahoo mail before and switched sometime this summer...
well...
I found your comment emails in a separate folder...
than the one that shows up when I go in to see my mail...
actually, there are 3 different folders there...
I did not know this...
now, I can go back and answer you!
I know I am a little slow sometimes...

Lord, keep us all safe today...

as we go about our lives...

send angels to stop those who have only hate in their hearts...

shield us from their anger and keep us safe from harm...

and keep your arms tightly around the children...
and the officers on patrol...

and bless this land...

keep our soldiers safe, too...
and put a peace in the hearts of those who wait for them to come home...

let us never forget the ones who died in the 9/11 attacks...
or their families and friends...
and those who survived...

keep us all safe today...
from all evil...
foreign and domestic...
let this day be full of your peace...

we finally got some rain Tuesday...

it came late afternoon, right before supper time...

and it dropped 20 degrees in less than half an hour...

its been the biggest rain we have had in a long time...

;0)
we almost got an inch out of it...

I know of one farmer just southeast of us who was picking corn...
and hauling it to the elevator...

we have our cooler days now...

no more 90s in sight...

and I am so good with that...

cooler nights with crickets chirping is wonderful...
as long as one of them doesn't get in the house...
then its creepy and you can never find it...
and you think you will go mad!

those calves were having so much fun in the downpour...
they were prancing and dancing and kicking up their heels...

we shot the photos of things in the rain, went back home to do supper...
then we headed for the normally Monday night JV game...
we lost, but it was nice to see the kids again...
I cannot believe its been so long since our boys played...
and we saw both of their numbers out there...
Doug was 61 one year and Craig was 25...
#11 there is our friends' son...
quarterback on the JV...
it was lightly drizzling so we watched from the van...
and very few were in the stands...
the ones that were there...
stood on the side lines with their umbrellas...
;0)
homecoming is next week...
;0)
are you ready for fall?

Labor Day weekend...

DH has been off for 5 days...
and we have tried to get things done around here before harvest starts up...
one of our baby watermelon...

Mr Wiggles...
the weather here has been hot and nasty...
too nasty to be out 99% of the time...

my coming project for halloween...

the carpets have been shampooed...
a few things moved around...

laundry, there is always laundry...

a got 2 baby blankets finished for some friends of our...
they are expecting their first grandchild...
a baby boy...

we got our blood work done on Thursday morning where DH works...
the company pays for it to get lower insurance premiums...
and its free for us...
they will mail us the results and we just take them in to our doctors...

I have been having problems with my laptop, too...
the battery needs replaced, but it started over heating and shutting down on me...

I got a can of air and blew it out without taking it apart and its doing better...
still need to take it apart and clean it out really good...
after the kittens leave...

I have 2 that need to go back to the rescue...
one is going up for adoption from here...
and we are keeping one...

they have been free ranging in here for 3 days now...
no kennels and they are doing really good...
we are past bottles and soft food...

we have been scrubbing floors, toilets and poop boxes...
not a glamorous way to spend the holiday...
but much needed...

got the fall coats and jackets washed and ready to go...
because it won't be long...
before we are going to need it...

been in the mid 90s here with one more day of it...
cold front will come through and cool us off a bit...
I am ready...

hope your weekend was a fun one...
and safe...
;0)
I will be around to see y'all shortly...
