bwahahahaha....

you know, its a little batty around here...

Craig and I did this yesterday...

and his friend, Tia, showed up to help put some finishing touches on things...

we are so ready to go...

our theme this year...

'children of the corn'

we do not display to be scary...

but rather, funny...

we made 3 brooms for free yesterday...

out of limbs and corn leaves left from the combine...

leaves, corn stalks, husks and cobs are all free and add so much...

and...

no plant was harmed...

they were already dead...

skeletons, tombstones and crows don't scare me...

all we need is a strand of white lights...

to back light it all...

and that won't be a problem since everyone has their Christmas stuff out already...

and candy...

we can't forget the candy!

we need more bats...

down to 2 big ones...

have no idea where the little ones went to...

and more crows...

I know I had a lot more than this...

all those light up pumpkins have had their cords cut...

they were just in the way...

and they were picked up at yard sales through the years...

I am thinking of repainting them...

with cooler colors than what they came with...

I will show you more later on...

rain delay...

a thunderstorm moved through in the wee hours of Saturday morning...

some of the corn got laid down...

and we got some rain...

the farmers were going pretty strong up until that happened...

the new Verizon tower is going up just south of us...

they still have some work to do on it...

DH had yesterday off, so now I am all out of whack...

feels like a Monday to me...

plenty of water standing around...

I wonder how long it will take us to get used to this thing?

when we can drive by and not think somethings out of place?

we didn't do a whole lot of anything yesterday...

but we kept busy at a snails pace...

low was 40 this morning when we got up...

and its still chilly...

looking for my long johns...

going to need them soon enough...

I did sneak up to our local closet thingy...

everything is free and they take donations of items and cash...

but its closing so picked out a few things...

scare crow clothes was one of them...

my Friday in a nutshell...

we woke to rain this morning...

we didn't get much...

.2 is all...

made it damp, though...

Mr Wiggles had trouble waking up...

it is our homecoming week here...

but we didn't have a way to get to the parade up town...

the truck has been down this week and we got it back this evening...

the shift solenoid went out in the transmission...

the part was $23...

but there is a towing bill and labor to go with it...

and Craig missed 3 days of work...

still cheap enough that we could handle...

they are still working on the new cell tower...

there is no way you could get me up there...

we are a dead zone here with the cell phones, so hoping this makes it better...

some of the corn is still green in spots, but they need to take off the end rows to get air in between the rows to dry them out...

DH has tomorrow off, but has to work on Sunday...

I do not have anything planned for him to do but just hang out and rest up...

I have the house work caught up and the laundry done...

the birds are gathering around here...

our football field last night...

we won!

homecoming dance is tonight and they crown the queen...

on one of our drives last week, DH asked me a simple question that I tried to answer...

he asked where has all the time gone?

he turned 60 this summer and the baby will be 30 in a few weeks...

we are older, our parents are all gone...

I just said...

we lived it...

we were so busy living our lives, we didn't see it slip away...

it just happened...

we still have a ways to go yet...

and this part we can take a little bit slower...

we do miss not having kids around...

no grandkids to do things with...

got all kinds of things going on around us...

the farmers are going at it...

Lester's fruity...

the beans are ready...

there's noise coming from all directions...

and can you see it?

Verizon is putting up a tower just south of us...

and it was really cool watching them last night...

after dark, you could see them welding...

they worked through the night on it...

there was an awesome sunset...

and DH worked over...

got home around 8...

its so dark out here this morning...

got a thunder boomer moving through...

we did get this cleaned off yesterday...

and the linens washed...

heading out there now to watch the storm move through...

its getting to the point here to where we won't know what day it is...

mums are peeking through and should be open by the weekend...

the truck went down, so Craig called in today...

will be towed this evening to the fixer guy...

nothing much is going on here...

got to mow my neighbor's yard this evening...

we are back in the 80s here...

hot and dry for harvest...

what they left in my yard...

saw some baby calves the other night...

so cute...

and we do have some of the best sunsets here...
