so thankful...

there are so many things in this world to be thankful for...

and in the world that waits for us beyond this place...

we are so thankful that we live where we do...

there is nothing around us that had been scarred by war...
by hate...

there are no soldiers marching down our roads...
no tanks in the fields...
not a shot fired on the square...

I am so thankful that God has placed us here to raise our family...
that they have not seen what is on the news in person...

the only thing you see around here that has been done by man...
is simple hard work to feed their families...

to claim liberty and freedom to worship the way we choose...

I am thankful for this place of peace...
for neighbors and friends who want the same thing...

we may not always see eye to eye on things...
petty things...
but we would all come together to keep this peace and life that we know...

I can't even imagine this countryside over run with chaos and bloodshed...
I don't want it to come here...
in this place we call home...

there are so many who are in the middle of all the madness...
who never thought they would be...
Europe is being taken over...
and their homes and freedom stolen from them...

so for this month of thanksgiving...
I am thankful for this place called home...
and those around me who live with love in their hearts...
the beauty that flows over the land...
and the grace of God...
His forgiveness...
His love...

something you might want to use in a decorating project...

Twas The Night Before Jesus Came

Twas the night before Jesus came
and all through the house
Not a person was praying,
not one in the house.

Their Bibles were left on the
shelf without care
For no one thought that
Jesus would come there.

The children were dressing
to crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling or
bowing a head.

And Mom in her rocker
with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show
while I took a nap.

When out of the East
there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet
to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters
and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering
eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming
that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun
sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this
must be THE DAY!

The light of His face
made me cover my head
It was Jesus returning just like He said
And though I possessed
worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life
which He held in his hand,
Was written the name
of every saved man.
He spoke not a word
as he searched for my name;
When He said, “It’s not here”
my head hung in shame.

The people whose names
had been written with love,
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready
He rose without a sound
While all the rest of us
were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long
and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried
as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem
the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There’s only one life
and when comes the last call,
We’ll find that the Bible was true after all!

our weekend...

we had a pretty weekend...
and got out for a quick drive on Sunday...

Saturday was a long overdue cleaning of our bedroom...

it started raining early Monday morning and so it will go for another day or two...

hoping to get the 3" out of it that was promised...

50s-60s this week...
until Saturday...

someone said something about snow flurries...
well, I am not ready for that...

so much going on in the world, though...
to be worried about a little bit of snow...

so many lives lost...
for nothing...
the bible says to beware of false prophets...
they cause so much misery in the lives of so many...
fear in the hearts of others...
and its happening here, at home, too...
prayers for all of those in their path...
and for them...
only God can change evil into good...

a couple of years ago...

there was snow on the ground at this time, so the 50s isn't so bad after all...

sure do wish this wind would stop blowing at 50 mph, though...

got laundry to do today, since I didn't get to it yesterday...

left overs for supper...
what ever you can find in the fridge, you can eat...

made a meatloaf and baked potatoes yesterday...

there's left over fried potatoes and sauerkraut, too...

plus a lot of other odds and ends...

got a boston butt in there to cook tomorrow...
with potatoes and carrots and whatever else I can find to throw in there...

and that will take us to the weekend...

we still have all the roses blooming still...
not sure how they do it, but we have piled the leaves on and their toes are warm...

called a new dentist place that just opened up and got an appointment for the 2nd of December...
sounds odd, doesn't it?
for the initial check up and then to schedule the oral surgery...
next Wednesday is the smashing and blood check...
and the doctor visit...
so, that will be over with another year...
would like to adjust it so its after the 1st of the year and not around all the things going on around this time...
with DH coming out of harvest, the holidays rolling through and the toy drive...
too much to schedule around...

been cleaning house...
I really live a boring life...
