My husband came home with good news...

they are getting more orders than they know what to do with and they are supposed to be shut down for maintenance right now...
when he came home 2 months ago and his friend had been permanently laid off and they said they were doing away with what he does...he was heartbroken...
in Oct 2000...he was laid off of a job that he had had since he was 18...
26 years of working for this company and they looked him straight in the eye and said we can hire 3 people for what we pay you...
they even escorted him to his locker to get his things and all the way out to the car...
he said he felt like a criminal...
and he came home at 1 am...
and for some reason I was awake and sitting in the living room like I was waiting for him...
he just sat down and cried...
he thought he had lost it all...
the HMO insurance, 5 weeks vacation, a good wage...
and I cracked a joke...
and then I told him we would be ok...
it will all work out...
and it has...
he makes 1/2 of what he did before and just up to 3 weeks vacation time...
but it's ok...
we cut back...
it's not hard to do...
when you have to do it...
and then it was all facing him again at 56...
and I said it will all work out...
it always does...
God has supplied this family with everything it has ever needed and He's not going to stop now...
no matter what we think...we are not in control of anything...
God has a plan...it will happen when it happens for the best...
with every change...there's always another door...
a better door...
but first you have to shut the one behind you...
in faith...
Steve is learning that...
he's a good, hard working man...
just a little slow sometimes...
no matter where you are right now...it's where God wants you to be...
there's a reason...

Sweet girl, my heart is touched by your post and know that you can get thru this. My self employed husband was recently told he has had two silent heart attacks PLUS an aortic aneurysm, so no more of any kind of work for him at all. The bright spot is that he has health insurance thru his veteran's benefits. I'm unemployed now too and thankful for unemployment checks, but I said all that to say, yes, you will get thru this! You can adapt. You have each other and a resilient and creative outlook on life. Many blessings and keep your chin up!
