close call with a late night visitor...

2 stripes...not a good sign...and look at the tail raised...another bad sign...
and two of our very stupid cats trying to investigate...
I was praying really hard...
but no one got sprayed...
or bit...
or scratched...
we have a crazy neighbor 3 doors down who feeds these guys...
this is our first encounter this summer...
hopefully, it's the last...

July 4th collages...

a couple July 4th collages for you to use...
have fun with them...

circus images..

love the sign and the lights...
that's a very pink tent with a very pink flag...
stripes, scallops, chandeliers...
aqua and pink with stars...
hey Rebecca, does this inspire any ideas?...

can you feel the sizzle?...

the lens on the camera fogs up as soon as you step out the door...
the heat index is 102...
and we're having a cooler day...
and the beans are on their way...
the top blew off this morning...
the shade offers major relief...
we live in the corn belt...the dirt is black here...
the tomatoes that were planted about 10 days ago...
the lemon balm is really taking off here...
it smells really good when you nip it with the mower...
it spreads quickly....
remember those who do not have ac or fans in this weather...
and check on your neighbors...
bring you pets in and keep the water filled...

thunder shook the house this morning just before 5am...

the sun hasn't come through yet...but it will...
Georgie...
Doofus...
part of Daphne...
Craig, I, the cats and the dog sat outside for awhile...
there was a nice breeze for a change...
there was no sign of my prince this morning...
it's going to get hot out again today...
Mr Wiggles lovin' the plants...Terri gave these to me and came by this morning...she has no clue what they are...
been waiting on an ID so I'll know where to plant them...
just off the steps...
and on around the corner...
if this doesn't just scream "WEED ME", then nothing does...
the frame work is where I want the grapevine to go...
it is an old cart from the shoe factory in Charleston where my grandparents, great aunt, my mom and I all  worked at one time or another....
I have two of these old carts they used to transport the shoes from one department to another...
the red bricks are from old houses long gone in the neighborhood...
and the grey ones are from the road on the square uptown when they had to remove some and pave it last year...
the road has a high semi traffic now and it was tearing the bricks apart...
I like things with history...
I even have an old street sign...
when the city bought new ones...
I made a quick call...
our old street sign was on the deck one morning...
my friend, Terri, had terrible news this morning...
one of their cats, Elmo, passed away this weekend right in front of them...
heart attack they think...he was 10...
we feed their cats when they are away and it will sure be different without him there...
it's beginning to brighten up a bit and it's about lunch time...
have a good one...

Happy Birthday, grandpa...

that's me, my grandpa and my brother...back in 1964...
grandpa would have turned 100 today...
he was the best grandpa and I have so many great memories of him...
I learned to dance standing on his wing tip shoes...
he was soft spoken...
hardworking...
hilariously silly...
wore all my pop bead creations with pride...
and he always let me win in a gunfight...
he played the shot and dying part pretty darn good...
when we ate watermelon, I always sat in his lap...
I was the official watermelon seed picker outer...
he said it was a very important job...
he also helped out when my ice cream cone melted too fast...
his tongue was bigger than mine...
and he watched the Roadrunner every Saturday morning...
what a guy...
