for my guy...

my DH was talking to the guys at work on Friday who were freaking out...
they were running out of time to find something for Valentine's Day for their wives...
they were talking big bucks cards, flowers and gifts...
DH just shook his head at them...
they were shocked to learn that he didn't buy any of that for me...
and lived to tell about it...
he told them that Valentine's Day is over rated...
it's only one day...
he told them he loved me every day of the year...
and he didn't buy me cut flowers because they fade in a week or so...
he would rather buy me a rose bush that bloomed year after year...
and he bought his cards at the dollar store for 50 cents...
he told them that he figured out years ago that it's what he writes in them that matters to me...
he looks for little things for me...
things that mean something to us...
but the best thing he ever gave me was his heart...
that is what I treasure most...
and I know he's mine...
all mine...
no matter what...
Love you, Duder...
for us...
Valentine's Day lasts 365 days a year...

don't miss Mike tonight!

Holmes Inspection is on every Sunday night...
Mike Holmes did the show Holmes on Homes for 7 seasons...
watched all of them but 1 episode...
DVR messed up...
I love what Mike and his crew do for people...
they step in and help them out when someone else has taken advantage of them...
one home at a time, they MAKE IT RIGHT...
my parents always told me if it's worth doing...
then it's worth doing right...
and do it right the first time...
or don't do it at all...
trade skills are disappearing around here fast...
they have done away with the carpentry and small engine repair classes at our high schools...
the community colleges don't have them either anymore...
they told me they were outdated...
that they are a thing of the past...
right now, you can hardly find someone to fix a lawn mower...
or do basic plumbing...
remember when you could always find a Mr. Fixit shop?
you could take in your toaster, vacuum, radio...
and he wouldn't charge you the price of a new one to fix it...
and there were always someone who could do plumbing, roofing, add shelves to a closet, hang a door or put in a window...
throw away society?
yes...
but we are not going to throw away our homes...
and we need people who know how to fix the little things before they become the big things...
out dated my hiney...
Mike Holmes promotes trade skills in Canada...
he is getting kids interested in making a living out of it...
we need to promote it here in the states...
with so many without jobs...
without training...
it could be a big boost to the economy...
and in 20 years...
who is going to be left that can do the little and big jobs?
they aren't being trained around here...
a roof over your head is never going to become outdated...
watch Mike tonight!
and watch out for the crooks out there!

the big ooze...

after days of thawing...
this ice sheet is still on the car...
the road right behind the driveway...
reflections...
my little buddy got his shadow...
light, shadow and slowly melting ice...
icicles and sticks...
they are everywhere...
this is a major improvement...
it is in the sun all day long and it's finally giving up the ice...
should be gone by tomorrow afternoon...
this one last limb is still frozen to the ground...
and there is one place by the dryer vent that has grass...
Craig calls these icicle grave yards...
it looks like this under all the trees...
this is the bottom of the front steps...
the standing water will go over the top of your shoe...
the birds will have drinking water for awhile now...
the driveway...
slimy...
see the moon in the middle?
clear blue skies and it's 45 right now...
we are heading for the 50s later this week...
I got out on the deck...
but I'm not allowed off of it yet...
besides, my chair doesn't have fenders...
it's still a little too cold to play in the mud...
still playing around in here...
hang tags, more flowers, shopping on line...
may make some cards...
who knows...
I have ate too much...
DH made pancakes for breakfast and it's been all downhill from there...
he loves the new skillet I got online...
it's wonderful...
I will post on it later...
gotta go play again...

images...

hope your weekend is going smoothly...
and you are surrounded by love...
and chocolate...

images...

I found these images this week...
all with fragments of the Lord's Prayer...
I am sure there has to be more of them...
so I'm still looking...
praying today for Debbie at Lakehouse...
haven't heard a word since my last post about her...
and for Angel Dawn...
she is the first thing on my side bar...
click the link to visit Nezzy and read her complete story...
she had a brain tumor removed and is under going chemo...
it's very major...
and she lost so much weight...
and has to have a feed tube until she gains enough back...
have a blessed day...
share it with someone...
