some kitty humor...

we have fostered kittens like this one...we were so glad when they got their new home...
and some of them are just different...
thought you could use a laugh today...
they made me smile...

My husband came home with good news...

they are getting more orders than they know what to do with and they are supposed to be shut down for maintenance right now...
when he came home 2 months ago and his friend had been permanently laid off and they said they were doing away with what he does...he was heartbroken...
in Oct 2000...he was laid off of a job that he had had since he was 18...
26 years of working for this company and they looked him straight in the eye and said we can hire 3 people for what we pay you...
they even escorted him to his locker to get his things and all the way out to the car...
he said he felt like a criminal...
and he came home at 1 am...
and for some reason I was awake and sitting in the living room like I was waiting for him...
he just sat down and cried...
he thought he had lost it all...
the HMO insurance, 5 weeks vacation, a good wage...
and I cracked a joke...
and then I told him we would be ok...
it will all work out...
and it has...
he makes 1/2 of what he did before and just up to 3 weeks vacation time...
but it's ok...
we cut back...
it's not hard to do...
when you have to do it...
and then it was all facing him again at 56...
and I said it will all work out...
it always does...
God has supplied this family with everything it has ever needed and He's not going to stop now...
no matter what we think...we are not in control of anything...
God has a plan...it will happen when it happens for the best...
with every change...there's always another door...
a better door...
but first you have to shut the one behind you...
in faith...
Steve is learning that...
he's a good, hard working man...
just a little slow sometimes...
no matter where you are right now...it's where God wants you to be...
there's a reason...

we were cleaning the living room...
all the glass had to be washed...
king's crown compotes and tea cups...
my black star swanky swig and a purple floral snack plate...
one of the many suitcases around here...
and I was eating a fudge brownie sundae...
it was a very good day...

I finished one project today...

the Hiram Rutherford blog now has all it's labels and every post is labeled to make navigation of the blog easier for those researching their family tress...
I thought it would take a lot longer than it did and I'm thrilled it's done!...
We think Craig may have an inner ear infection...
He's ok as long as he doesn't move...
that shouldn't be a problem for him...
he's in the recliner with his laptop...
Steve called from work and said they took one guy to the hospital for probably heat stroke...
the dew point is so high...it's miserable out there...
drink lots of water and stay in the shade...
if you can...
we're hanging in the ac the rest of the day...

It's a prairie jungle out there...

I am so glad I didn't wait to plant this so I could paint it...there's always fall...
planted this lavender last year...
they look like they are playing hide and seek...the one is counting behind the tree...
weeds amid the bean greens and day lilies...
everything is in need of attention...
I wanted to move this grapevine this spring...had good intentions...
I need to look it up and see when the best time to do this is...
won't it make a great statement somewhere later?...
begonias are happy little flowers...and they do so well in pots...
it's all green now...but in a day or two it will all be brown from all the dead grass...
should bale it...
I have friends who use their grass clippings for mulch...
I hate mulch...
I am a full fledged dirt aholic and proud of it...
I like dirt...not rocks...not mulch...not plastic...not newspapers...
DIRT!...
this needs another spray of black paint...
it's June 18th and I just hung out my bottle bee...
slap me with a ruler...
it's been so wet we are growing cattails...
I love the door on this...bought it off of Rebecca at one of her barn gatherings about 5 years ago...
maybe 8...it's all a blur past yesterday...
the cats love the shade the lounger provides...
I love this concept and I needed a way to use these and get them off of the concrete pad so the table and chairs can go out there...
or something else...I know this is short lived...but it has new flower bed written all over it...
the guys are going to kill me...
I had promised no more beds...like 3 beds ago...
the little table on wheels is another find from Rebecca's barn...it's an old doll buggy frame...
just slapped a chunk of old board on there and it can be rolled around for a table to set your drinks on...
while you are laying out there star gazing...
it's very narrow...
my vision is to find a wicker basket to fit on there...paint it white...and plant flowers in it...
I see pink, white and yellow petunias...with sweet potato vine cascading over the sides...
still looking for the right basket...
it would also be cute in the house to put my mom's baby dolls in...
I need to mend and paint the screen...white...
the cushions need a good scrubbing....
Craig started throwing up right out of the shower this morning...
he's got a low fever...
so today I'm on mom mode and the gardening will have to wait...
Steve has one more week and then he's got a week off for vacation...
talked to Rebecca this morning on her way camping...
won't be able to talk to her until she's heading home...
no cell phone reception there...
I have a lot of work to do on another blog of mine...
Hiram Rutherford...
I do 2 historic blogs and then an Oakland Community Blog...
besides this one...
so have a good day...

in the middle of the night...

some nights are not meant for sleeping...
so I guess this is one of those nights...
so I thought I would do something productive....
Rebecca called with good news yesterday...
my crazy little bottle bugs had sold in our booth...
she said make some more...
so that's on my to do list today...
I have this strong urge to raid the fridge...
I have been fighting it for over an hour now...
technically, I could call it breakfast...
yeah, ok, it's breakfast...
then I'll need a nap between breakfast and actually getting up...
hmmm...
