happy Tuesday...

 I love vintage barns...
so here is one that we found on our drive Sunday...

had a guy on a 4 wheeler riding through our yard last evening...

tore up 4 yards...

and on his way out, he almost hit Mr Peebody(Hopper)...

if he ever comes into the yard again, he is going to jail...
and he knows it...
because I had a talk with him...

got the kids coming...
working on the camper...
I am sewing the cushion covers and curtains...
and taking a nap...
;0)

its sunny/cloudy/sunny/cloudy here...
with dabs of rain now and then...
it just cannot make up its mind...
have a good day!

another Sunday drive through the prairie...

there's not much to do but housework when the skies are like this...
a dab of rain here, a dab of rain there...

and my rider's in the shop getting worked on...
its idling too fast and you cannot throttle it down...

so we hopped in the van after cleaning and doing laundry...

and headed out...
farther than we normally go, but still close by...
we have an abundance of clover and roadside flowers here...

and a few crooked fences left...

you don't see the barbed wire much anymore...
and certainly not in this shape when you do...

and it was such a peaceful, quiet drive...

but no critters this time at all...

we have had enough rain...

I did shoot 3 barns...
I will post those throughout the week...
looks like I will be inside much of it...
rain 9 days out of the next 10...
that's the way it goes...

we had a good weekend and I had my problems, but worked through them...
and it ended up being ok...
not sure how many days I will need this week to recover...
but I have 5...
;0)
before the 4th...
and I can't miss the 4th!

Hope your weekend was wonderful and that you found time to play...

cruisin' in style...

this was parked at the neighbor's yesterday while we were out mowing and doing yard work...

we had to get a closer look...
he had the seats redone...
the fabric is new but the vinyl is original...

turns out we know the owner...

so I asked if I could take some photos...

he opened the door and said sure...

this is a 1962 Rambler...

my grandpa had a Rambler station wagon...
we called the "doodle buggy"

got to love the curves...
and a winged back window...

he has worked very hard at restoring her...

right down the original ramble hub caps...
those made me smile...
shoot, the whole car had me grinning...
brought back some sweet memories of that old doodle buggy and riding to town...
in the back...
if you have never ridden in the back of a station wagon...
you missed one of the best parts of being a kid...

the weekend is here!

wanted to get some much need weeding done in the yard today...
but...rain happens...
so off on a country drive first thing yesterday morning...

my first drive was with my son...
and we traveled a bit out of town...
but not too far...

soy beans...

back to town to the post office and grocery store...

then after supper, I was taking the birthday boy out for ice cream...
but the pool was closed- rain...
so we drove on...

it was a nice night for a drive and we found these fun babies on the way...

barbie doe sheep...

pretty and I wanted to bring them all home with me...

especially this one...
that one's a talker...
answered me consistently...
I have no idea what we were talking about...
but I am pretty sure it involved a jail break...
cuz I think this one can read...

the writing on the wall...

we are heading for Paris this morning for a birthday breakfast...
driver's license first...
probably wally world...
then who knows...
but there will be a nap in there somewhere...
after we get back...
if I don't nap on the way home...
have a fun and safe weekend...
hope you have sunshine and breezes!

rain is a wondrous thing...

just look what it did to our place in the last week...
the rose of sharon is budding...

and the coleus are doing really good...

the day lilies are starting to open all over the place...

and I am here to tell you that container gardening is wonderful...

even though, I didn't need any help picking beans last night...
I got it anyway...
and I changed his name...
Hopper is now Mr Peebody...
I will explain later...

and here is what I cooked down last night, so today's supper is done...

more coleus...

here are the 3 big slicing tomato plants...
the sauce ones are on the other side...
I got them tied up a bit better while I was out there...

and we have baby tomatoes...

the watermelon is going crazy...
and this is those small seedless round ones, so I think they have time to make...

see, they are just opening up all over...

I want to wish my guy a happy 60th birthday today...
he didn't take the day off...
but we are taking him to get his driver's license in the morning and out for a birthday breakfast...
he picked taco bell...
he's easy...

now, for the name change...
Mr Peebody, FKA Hopper...
has this terrible habit...
he likes to watch you pee...
which, I know, a lot of cats do like to watch you when you are sitting there...
but this guy is strange...
he isn't just the kind of guy who just stalks, sits and watches...
he likes to help...
and jump on the toilet seat when you are going down...
and in the case this morning...
jumped right up on the toilet seat while Craig was peeing...
and Craig peed on his body...
because the first pee is the hardest (IMPOSSIBLE) to stop mid stream...
( I have not petted him since)
I knew this was going to happen sooner or later...
I have dibbled on him before...
but just a drop or two...
he didn't even seem to mind...
(NO we don't close our bathroom doors unless we have company)
because they are in separate ends of the house and mine is in my bedroom and around a corner...
but I have a feeling that is going to change...
the door shutting thing...
and Mr Peebody will have to just be happy with getting hit by the garden hose from here on out...
so, keep laughin' and head on down the road...
got things to do today and you need to get a move on!

country roads...

I am so looking forward to today...
even with the thunder booming right now at 3am...

I spent 100% of yesterday with my kids...
the morning with Craig and then Doug & Paula showing up right after he left for work...

I am still flaring...
and I need a day of rest, which I have seem to not be able to get...

I had to call 911 last night...
2  pit bulls running lose in our yard and they treed the cats...

I had a great talk with the owners who came down while we were still waiting for the cop to come down and talk to us...

the animals are wonderful looking...
but they had on no collars and are let lose in their unfenced in yard...

and I said my peace about it...
in love and respect for their family members...
that if they truly love their babies...
they are responsible for their well being...
that just because of their breed...
if, IF, they would ever, even in play. bite someone...
they don't even have to break the skin..
that those dogs would be taken and put down...
not to mention getting hit on the highway that they live on...
they were receptive and listened...
because of their size, they must control them 100% of the time...
in the rescue, there are many that cannot be pulled from kill shelters because of the breed...
we cannot find them homes...
responsible homes...
and they are left there to die...
we are also having trouble with coyotes in a major way...
and if they were to breed with the coyotes...
with the size and power of a pit, and the pack hunting of the coyote...
it could be a very dangerous situation around here...
I just told Steve that all we can do is educate when we can...
tell them what we have seen...
what we know...
and maybe, save a life...
human or canine...

so, off you go to find more adventures...
checking the radar and heading back to bed...
may you find your joy today...
