It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas...

Christmas is so many things to so many people...

some measure it by the greatest gift they get...

but the true joy lies in...

the greatest gift you can give...

those little things you give away...

and not the kind of things you can find in a store or in online shopping...

they are smiles and courtesy...

patience and love...

give away as much as you can...
 donate to your local charities...
 make a child's smile brighter...
deliver cookies...
visit the forgotten...
hug the lonely...

be someone's angel on earth...
;0)
Merry CHRISTmas...
let the joy begin!

survived another turkey day...

I tried to hold back...
and did pretty good...
you should have seen the guy's plates...

we had a great dinner...
and then we took a drive after our nap...

a group puts trees on the square to make money for their charitable fund...
all the money from them goes back to the community...
and people and businesses pay to sponsor a tree and then decorate it...

it was a pretty day...
but yesterday was rainy and warm...
until the afternoon...

we haven't drug the christmas stuff out yet...

we will sometime this weekend...

did nothing yesterday...
nap, eat. took a drive...
so we need to step it up a bit today...
cleaning and laundry...
need to deep clean the living room before the tree goes up...
we do not shop during all the chaos of black Friday, that started on Thursday here...
not our thing...
not doing that...
Craig said it was nuts yesterday...

heading back to bed...
way too early to be up on a weekend...
have a great day!

Happy Thanksgiving...

the ones I miss the most today...

getting ready to get things going this morning...
just waiting on the caffeine to kick in...
I am so thankful for everything in my life and everyone God has placed there...
today and the special ones who were before...

I hope you have a wonderful day...
and that those you love most are there...

are you ready to feed the masses?

we took a drive out to the state park on Sunday morning...
and there was still snow on the ground...

the skies had cleared over night and we had a super sunny day...

got some great shots of a peaceful place...

it was nippy when the wind hit you...

it looked totally abandoned...
we only saw 2 other cars driving through...

and then these guys...
must have moved in when all the campers moved out...

turkey vultures or buzzards...
whatever your prefer...
were sunning themselves...

they flew across the road when drove up on them...

and settled in the tree tops...
massive things, they are...

spent yesterday waiting for the repairman for the dish washer...
finally came last night at 7...
computer board and over $200 to fix...
so we are going to wait until next year and just buy a new one...

I want a new stove first, so might even be next fall before we get one...
I don't mind doing dishes and hand wash most of the time anyway...

Doug had 2 apt places call yesterday and he going to go look at one on Monday...
the other one needed more paperwork...
but they have openings...

he might even be out of here by the first of the month and we can get back to normal here...
before the holidays...
;0)

having a very hard time with fluid in my ears and dizzy part of the time...
see the dr on Wed, so maybe another round of antibiotics...
its another week until I see the dentist and that's just for the first visit to see what has to be done...

the fan and battery are down on my laptop...
Craig said it would be cheaper to buy a new one than to fix this old one...
I like his thinking...
hope he's buying!
;0)

not a lot going on, but enough for me...
don't have any plans for today but to get better...
and not get too tired out...
need to sort through the wrapping paper tote thingy and see what I need to stock up on and get it organized...
its in the living room, so can just dump it out in the floor and sit there and sort until the cow's come home...
might even go outside for a bit...
the snow did melt a lot yesterday and the days are warming up...
but it won't last long, so should get out there while I can...

hope you have good days and warm ones!

so much for a fleeting thing...

the forecast said it was going to melt right away...
well...

it didn't...
and it we go by the old saying...

this is our first of 21 snows this winter...

sure its pretty...
but I am a flip flop kind of girl...

this is messing with my plans of a warm and dry winter...

anyway, that is what we woke up with this morning...
and I got up to white stuff all over the place...
so grabbed a shower and got dressed in winter clothes...
and we went for a ride for winter photos...
and it was snowing so hard you couldn't see a mile...
thinking...
it will be gone by noon...
ha!
didn't get a lot done today...
DH thought it would be a good idea to get carry out lunches from our local place here in town...
so, after Craig left for work...
he called in a to go order...
their special today?
hamburger, fries and a coke...
so that's what we all got and it filled the to go cartons...
so we stuffed our faces and waddled off for naps and slept the afternoon away...
had to put the curtains back up in the kitchen then after they had been washed and put things back...
he made a trip to the deli for lunch meat and such...
they aren't open on Sunday...
and it was around 8 when we ate supper...
now, this old lady is heading for bed...
big deal, huh?
like I said before...
I lead a very boring life...
;0)
have a great day tomorrow...
and let's see a show of hands of all of you that got the white stuff, too...
how many of you are there out there?
I surely can't be the only one...
right?

playing around...

just a few things to share...

I couldn't sleep, so I have been in the photo editor playing around...

such a change in weather we have here...
its feeling like November more and more...
and now, we could get a slight ground cover of the white stuff...
;0)
no matter what is going on in our own lives...
we still have so much to be THANKFUL for...
we are so blessed here...
more than we can ever imagine...
cherish each breath we are given...
each day we can hold someone we love...
each moment that He gives...
to make this a better place...
His light is in our hands...
shine bright!

I am so tired...

of all the ugly things going on in the world and every other post here and there is of evil things being done...
so I am making pretty things with simple messages and flooding my spaces with good...
take it and share it as much as you like...

so thankful...

there are so many things in this world to be thankful for...

and in the world that waits for us beyond this place...

we are so thankful that we live where we do...

there is nothing around us that had been scarred by war...
by hate...

there are no soldiers marching down our roads...
no tanks in the fields...
not a shot fired on the square...

I am so thankful that God has placed us here to raise our family...
that they have not seen what is on the news in person...

the only thing you see around here that has been done by man...
is simple hard work to feed their families...

to claim liberty and freedom to worship the way we choose...

I am thankful for this place of peace...
for neighbors and friends who want the same thing...

we may not always see eye to eye on things...
petty things...
but we would all come together to keep this peace and life that we know...

I can't even imagine this countryside over run with chaos and bloodshed...
I don't want it to come here...
in this place we call home...

there are so many who are in the middle of all the madness...
who never thought they would be...
Europe is being taken over...
and their homes and freedom stolen from them...

so for this month of thanksgiving...
I am thankful for this place called home...
and those around me who live with love in their hearts...
the beauty that flows over the land...
and the grace of God...
His forgiveness...
His love...

something you might want to use in a decorating project...

Twas The Night Before Jesus Came

Twas the night before Jesus came
and all through the house
Not a person was praying,
not one in the house.

Their Bibles were left on the
shelf without care
For no one thought that
Jesus would come there.

The children were dressing
to crawl into bed,
Not once ever kneeling or
bowing a head.

And Mom in her rocker
with baby on her lap
Was watching the Late Show
while I took a nap.

When out of the East
there arose such a clatter,
I sprang to my feet
to see what was the matter.
Away to the window I flew like a flash
Tore open the shutters
and threw up the sash!

When what to my wondering
eyes should appear
But angels proclaiming
that Jesus was here.
With a light like the sun
sending forth a bright ray
I knew in a moment this
must be THE DAY!

The light of His face
made me cover my head
It was Jesus returning just like He said
And though I possessed
worldly wisdom and wealth,
I cried when I saw Him in spite of myself.

In the Book of Life
which He held in his hand,
Was written the name
of every saved man.
He spoke not a word
as he searched for my name;
When He said, “It’s not here”
my head hung in shame.

The people whose names
had been written with love,
He gathered to take to His Father above.
With those who were ready
He rose without a sound
While all the rest of us
were left standing around.

I fell to my knees, but it was too late;
I had waited too long
and thus sealed my fate.
I stood and I cried
as they rose out of sight;
Oh, if only I had been ready tonight.

In the words of this poem
the meaning is clear;
The coming of Jesus is drawing near.
There’s only one life
and when comes the last call,
We’ll find that the Bible was true after all!

our weekend...

we had a pretty weekend...
and got out for a quick drive on Sunday...

Saturday was a long overdue cleaning of our bedroom...

it started raining early Monday morning and so it will go for another day or two...

hoping to get the 3" out of it that was promised...

50s-60s this week...
until Saturday...

someone said something about snow flurries...
well, I am not ready for that...

so much going on in the world, though...
to be worried about a little bit of snow...

so many lives lost...
for nothing...
the bible says to beware of false prophets...
they cause so much misery in the lives of so many...
fear in the hearts of others...
and its happening here, at home, too...
prayers for all of those in their path...
and for them...
only God can change evil into good...
