my kitchen after dark...

I love shadows...
and with lighting coming from different angles...
they cast some fun on the walls...
I love this!...
this doily was on an old piano for several years in the antique mall I ran...
and when it closed, I bought it and brought it home with me...
I am so glad no one else bought it...
the mantel is a $10 rummage sale find...
see how my curtain droops?...
the rod broke today while Craig and I were hanging it up...
it's on the list for next week...
Walmart is 25 minutes away for us...
we only do Walmart once a week...
and sometimes every two weeks...
if I can get my planning that far ahead...
w e always buy in bulk...
but there's always something...
did you all ever watch Trading Spaces on HGTV?...
I sure did when it first started...
and my favorite designer was Edward Walker...
I loved his designs!...
and I listened to him...
he said a touch of black in every room dresses it up...
I had never had anything black anywhere ever!...
so I started throwing it around here and there...
he was right...
and the kitchen table and chairs are from my grandmother...
I would so love a different style in here for sure...
but these were in her dining room...
and I just haven't been able to let them go...
maybe someday...
the iron work is from my neighbor last spring...
a storm brought down a huge tree in her backyard and took out her gazebo...
this is what was left of the straight pieces...
the rest were bent beyond recognition...
and she was going to throw them away...
and I said wait a minute...
as my DH rolled his eyes...
well, that's it for tonight...
I have napped off the Nyquil finally...
so may be up awhile....
you all have a fun weekend...
and thanks for all the kind comments this week...
they mean so much!
Hugs- Tete

kitchen works...

mid way through the disaster...
notice my mail cart on the right...
my best buddy in the house...
that's also Craig laying down in the floor...
he thought I would crop him out...
not today, ha...
I'm thinking bead board in here 2/3 of the way up...
but do I stay with yellow walls above or go pink?...
found the tulip and crocus bulbs that need planted this weekend...
there are 30 tulip and 20 crocus...
spring will be awesome!...
ta da- my new cheese crate light that I found on eBay...
it came this morning...
with rusty metal stars...
and a gauze ribbon...
the dreaded corner...
see, Debbie...
I have those, too...
this is after I moved out a pile of boxes and an old high chair...
my new chicken...
looks like he was shot with bird shot...
I still have more tweaking to do...
but the beginnings are good...
so far...
little over night suit case holds vintage paper dolls, post cards and valentines...
the lamp shade is crooked and the table needs washed off again...
so don't look so close...
hahahaha...
the bottom of the mantel holds the cat's food dishes...
no more stubbing my toes on them and sending cat food half way across the kitchen or tipping the water bowl...
and the top of the desk...
I am using my new tea cup for a place to put my reading glasses...
I get so tired of trying to find them all the time...
and yes, some of the time, they are on top of my head...
well, girls, this wore me out and I did take Nyquil to get through it...
so maybe, I should take a nap and dream of spring days...
have a sweet weekend...

IT'S THE NEXT ONE DOWN...
