Ryan's Story from Caring Bridge: Background Story
On Saturday, May 22, 2010, we received the heart-wrenching news that our son, Ryan Bruce, age 21, had been in a serious car crash - a head-on collision. He was just a few minutes away from home. He is in the hospital now with multiple injuries - skull fractures, rib fractures, lung damage, brain injuries, and more. This is a fun-loving, adventure seeking, brave * young man who thrives off of being connected with people. No one is a stranger to Ryan! He will be your friend for life. His heart for people is amazing. *"brave" Dictionary (dot) com gives this for a definition - "1. possessing or exhibiting courage or courageous endurance. 2. making a fine appearance"
We are praying utmost for God's glory to be revealed through this tragedy.
We believe that God has a purpose for everything and that He is sovereign.
Thank you for you prayers for Ryan and our family. .
before the accident...
Ryan today, with the responding officers that didn't think he had a chance to survive...
there are many more therapy sessions and possible surgeries in his future and lifelong issues Ryan and his family will have to face and live with...
but they were given the chance to live with them...
Ryan has been home a month now and has celebrated his 22nd birthday...
thank you for all your prayers...
they do matter...
Note: I do not know Ryan or his family, but we do have a mutual friend.
His story pulled at me and I could not ignore a cry for help from his mother.
The one thing I could do was help spread the word that prayer needed to go up and go up quickly when the accident first happened.
What good is a blog if you can't make a difference with it?
So, I began posting about Ryan and his family and all the things they have gone through.
Thanks to all of you out there who have opened your hearts to him and remember him in your prayers.
Thanks JS for letting me know about the photos being posted. It is so good to see him smiling!
