A New Party...Monday Music with Nancy...

we are supposed to post something about music...
and for me...
I thought about the music I used to listen to when I was a giggling pre teen, pimple popping girlie...
so this week...
it's Bobby Sherman!
he was so cute!
and I looked forward to each new issue of Tiger Beat!
and I loved watching HERE COME THE BRIDES !
I still have my Bobby Sherman album with this song on it...
but it's in the PEACHES crates in the very end of my closet...
no way to get it out today...

so sit back...
and watch him in his finest!...
and dream of the bluest eyes, skies you've ever seen...

Linking up with Nancy for Music Monday...
click here to see what else you can find today!...
this is her first Music Monday...
so if you can play along...
that would be so much fun...

Halloween past...

I have been reading with much interest the recollections of your Halloweens and trick or treating as a child with much fascination indeed...
we lived in an average size neighborhood...
mom and dad knew most of the neighbors or of them...
it was in the mid 60's...
it was a small college town...
I got to go as a bear when I was 4...
but that was it...
and most of the candy was thrown away...
all of the apples were cut up and if mom and dad were not sure of who gave the popcorn balls...
they were tossed, too...
you see in the mid 60's in our town in Ohio...
people were mean...
very mean...
they put pins, needles and razor blades in the apples and candy bars...
they put pot in the cookies and popcorn balls...
and they put LSD in anything they could shoot a needle in...
for 2 years straight...
kids hit the ERs with slashed mouths...
on "trips"...
and it was spreading from one community to the next like wild fire...
how anyone could ever think this was funny is beyond me...
the outrage was massive...
so the city leaders outlawed trick or treat...
we had none...
when I was in 6th and 7th grade...
I got to do a couple of block parties...
it was only for the kids in that block and you could only go to homes that had been ok'd by the other parents...
so most of my Halloweens were spent with only one activity...
and that was carving the pumpkin...
that sat on the porch all alone...
if the neighbor kids didn't smash it in the middle of the night...
so I so looked forward to the parties at school...
and God Bless all those room mothers who made the best goodies for us...
the cupcakes and cookies and the treat bags...
and the teachers who decorated our class rooms with the most fun things ever!...
they kept the spirit of the holiday in our lives...
and when I had kids and moved to this small town and they did trick or treat nights...
I was so thrilled that my kids wouldn't miss out!...
of course, we checked the candy...
and threw away anything that wasn't factory sealed...
but they got to go and have fun and be a kid...
and I suppose that's why I decorate like I do...
to make up for lost time...
and bless Linus for not losing hope in the pumpkin patch year after year...
thank you to everyone for sharing all your Halloweens this year!...
it sure has been fun...
and I can so see Sherry with her pillow case full of candy...
and Ann tracking door to door...
and Rebecca as a pink fairie princess...
I so had a wonderful time with all of you!
Hugs and smooches to you!

The Mummy...starring Bebe...the wonder dog...

Bebe's Halloween Costume this year...
DH said this was wrong...
and he is so cheap!...
I had to wad up the tp and put it back in the bathroom...
TO USE!...
but my little mummy guy is so stinkin cute...
it will be worth it...
keep going down in the blog...
crazy little me has been busy this weekend...
but, I have finally ran out of stuff to blog...
so I'm doing the spaghetti and taking a nap...
to dudes of house are doing football and nascar...
at the same time...
and they tell me they can't multi task...
I know better...

that's a wrap...

our trick or treat was last night...
and we had one goblin attend...
so back in the tubs it goes...
notice it's orange...
so we know which ones to grab every year...
so now, all we have is fall...
blue skies...
washboard clouds...
the wind is really blowing out there...
and here it is...
October 31st...
and we still have bloomers...
and not the long john type either...
some green things in with the browns...
and then there's always the sedum...
which is the most versatile plant in the garden ever...
it goes from one season to the other effortlessly...
always a show stopper...
and with that...
the next bunch of photos is my mini photo shoot of this amazing plant...
upshooting is easy and most impressive...
just turn your camera upside down and stick it in everywhere!...
you never know what you will end up with...
upshots and downshots...
give them a try...
hope you are having a great day...
Happy Halloween to all of you that have trick or treaters tonight...
or a spooky party to do...
we are doing spaghetti and football...
and of course...
all that left over candy...
bwahahahahaha!...
I am so going to miss doing that...
HUGS!

YOU KNOW YOU'RE A HAUNTAHOLIC WHEN ...

this is for my BF and all of you out there who may have a problem...
you're pestered all year by kids who want to know what the theme for THIS year is.

you find yourself thinking that one corpse is more attractive than another.

you get more excited over a fog machine than a dirty movie.

you have more help at your haunt than necessary for an old-fashioned barn raising.

you have more than ten sound effect CD's.

you have names for the skeletons in your closet.

you play spooky music all year round.

you spend more on one Halloween than on your spouse's birthday, Christmas or anniversary.

your neighbors avoid you a full month before Halloween.

your garage, basement and attic contain nothing but Halloween props.

the only candelabra you own is in a spider web motif.

there is a monster under your bed because your attic/basement/garage is full.

your electric bill higher in October than in December.

the family dog ignores masked individuals breaking into your house.

instead of giving your child a cat or dog, you give them a gargoyle to play with.

the guy at the paint counter at the hardware store sees you coming and starts stacking gallon cans of flat black on the counter.

you go to "Goth Night" at a local club, armed with a pocketful of "volunteer recruitment" flyers.

you can't watch a horror movie without jotting down ideas every two minutes.

you're nervous about taking rolls of film in to be developed, for fear the police might show up at your house looking for the corpses.

you have a room in your house reserved for special props/projects, and won't allow anyone in there because it'll "spoil the Halloween surprise!"

people refuse to walk into your house at night.

people refuse to walk into your house in broad daylight!

you have a customized license plate that has something to do with Halloween.

you start actually setting up your yard haunt in August...

you judge homes by how well a haunt could be set up in them.

your toddler's first words are "TRICK OR TREAT!"

you start checking out the Halloween Online family of web site in June every year

Check local listings for your nearest HA group for support...
and Happy Halloween!

cleaning day...

I have the greatest little helper now...
she is going to help out around here until Craig is finished with this semester...
I would love to find a slip cover for the sofa...
but guys don't really get slip covers...
and it ends up looking worse with the cover on than without it...
it had been years since I had lace panels in here...
what was I thinking?...
I love lace...
but I also liked looking out at the flower beds, too...
and my cool halloween sign from my bf...
I am already thinking about rearranging...
do you do that?...
open and airy or...
comfy and cozy?...
where is the tree going to go?...
you know that's coming up...
declutter or...
junque it up?...
decisions, decisions...
an insane person's work is never done...

my Pink Saturday...

I am sharing with you this week...
a pink poppy card from my aunt...
a pink floral doily...
and one of my King's Crown desserts...
also known as Thumbprint...
the original King's Crown molds were owned by Tiffin Glass Co.,...
Tiffin, Ohio...
they produced many colors...
including Ruby...
which is what I collect...
it is a darker red flashing...
the color is flashed on and is easily scratched...
when the molds were sold to Indiana Glass Co.,...
they continued in manufacturing the pieces in many different colors...
but their version of ruby came out lighter...
thus the cranberry color...
gold dust is required to get the red color in glass...
the more the dust, the darker the red...
Indiana glass did not use as much...
finding it cheaper, I suppose...
a dear old dealer friend told me that that is why the red glass is more expensive in any style of depression glass...
and more sought out...
she taught me so much about glassware...
it was her specialty...
and her name was Ruby...
with a mane of red hair...
cherish those older dealers...
they have more information than you could ever find in a book...
they lived through it...
they know...
they remember...
she would have loved PINK SATURDAY !
Happy Pink Saturday!

rummage find #5...

star light...
star bright...
first star I see tonight...
isn't it fun?...
I love little lights all around...
this will be out all year long...
and it's a star, NanaDiana!...
LOL...
I just love it when people think they need to declutter and have a rummage sale, don't you?...

the frost is on the pumpkins...

we have a low of 26 with a wind chill...
get that...
wind chill...
not heat index...
wind chill of 21 degrees...
the high is supposed to be 58...
now this is fall...
hopefully...
it will kill all the plants and we can pull the rest of them this weekend...
we picked a bag full of tomatoes night before last...
this is just so unreal...
we are going to be eating fresh tomatoes in NOVEMBER!...
wear your nose mitten this morning if you are going to be out and about...
bwahahahaha...

pumpkin pie...

it was so good...
yep...
it's all gone...
one of the best things of fall...

what I nabbed today...

I snagged this off of eBay...
I let the last one get away...
contacted the seller...
bad time for her...
she had 2 deaths in the family back to back...
so when she got this listed and I nabbed it...
I like it so much better than the other one...
I am not painting the box on this...
love the colors!...

God is good all the time !!!

Just a reminder to myself- I am so blessed: husband and good kids.
Friends and family that I love!!
Enjoy your day today!!
Remember if you are alive today God has a purpose for you today!
Go make someone smile!!!

rummage find #4...

the 4th rummage thingy is this little paper mache house...
with rusty stars...
and you know how I feel about stars...
and here are the first four rummage finds...
and there's more to come...

the leaves, the leaves...

the winds brought down the leaves...
and they are everywhere...
if I were to sit outside the last few days...
I would have been a human leaf pile...
high winds do this to the clouds...
a wash board effect...
we will have to get the blower out this weekend to find the porch again...
I would like for the guys to get the Halloween down on Sunday...
our trick or treat here is Saturday night...
we have never had more than 3 goblins here ever...
and some years- none...
but I have had a couple friends who are bringing their grandgoblins over...
we live at the edge of town on a one way street...
no one knows we are here....
it's 43 out today...
so the cold front went through...
and this morning early...
there was fog!...
spooky fog...
tonight we have our first freeze warning!...
down to 30...
yippee!...
it will also kill the last of the bugs!...
and that's a good thing...
have a cool day!
