Daphne gets her time in, too..

don't you just love it when the wind blows the curtains?
we had a full day of it...
but finally closed this window at supper time...
but we got some fresh air...
and here's our baby girl...
it had clouded up right after we got in from our walk...
but it stayed warm...
and we had some major breezes...
I figured after yesterday I wouldn't be able to crawl out of bed this morning...
but I was wrong...
had a great day...
guess the PT is paying off...
that...
and God smiled real big on me today...
hope yours was blessed also...

THE BASIC RULES FOR CLOTHES LINES...

THE BASIC RULES FOR CLOTHES LINES:  (if you don't know what clotheslines are, better skip this)
1.  You had to wash the clothes line before hanging any clothes - walk the entire lengths of each line with a damp cloth around the lines.
2.  You had to hang the clothes in a certain order, and always hang "whites" with "whites," and hang them first.
3.  You never hung a shirt by the shoulders  - always by the tail!. What would the neighbors think?
4.  Wash day on a Monday! . .. . Never hang clothes on the weekend, or Sunday, for Heaven's sake!
5.  Hang the sheets and towels on the outside lines so you could hide your "unmentionables" in the middle (perverts & busybodies, y'know!)
6.   It didn't matter if it was sub zero weather  ... clothes would "freeze-dry."
7.  Always gather the clothes pins when taking down dry clothes!  Pins left on the lines were "tacky!"
8.  If you were efficient, you would line the clothes up so that each item did not need two clothes pins, but shared one of the clothes pins with the next washed item.
9.  Clothes off of the line before dinner time, neatly folded in the clothes basket, and ready to be ironed.
10. IRONED?!  Well, that's a whole other subject!
              A  POEM
A clothesline was a news forecast
    To neighbors passing by,
There were no secrets you could keep
When clothes were hung to dry.
It also was a friendly link

              For neighbors always knew
If company had stopped on by
To spend a night or two.
For then you'd see the "fancy sheets"
            And towels upon the line;
You'd see the "company table cloths"
              With intricate designs.
The line announced a baby's birth
From folks who lived inside -
As brand new infant clothes were hung,
         So carefully with pride!
The ages of the children could
            So readily be known
By watching how the sizes changed,
You'd know how much they'd grown!
It also told when illness struck,
        As extra sheets were hung;
Then nightclothes, and a bathrobe, too,
        Haphazardly were strung.
It also said, "Gone on vacation now"
When lines hung limp and bare.
It told, "We're back!" when full lines sagged
With not an inch to spare!
New folks in town were scorned upon
If wash was dingy and gray,
As neighbors carefully raised their brows,
And looked the other way .. . .
But clotheslines now are of the past,
For dryers make work much less.
Now what goes on inside a home
       Is anybody's guess!
I really miss that way of life.
          It was a friendly sign
When neighbors knew each other best
By what hung on the line.

enjoy and take what you want...

our walk today...

this was at 11am this morning...
the ice is all gone from here now...
the wind is so strong today...
and it's blowing everything dry...
limbs and what's left of the snow plow heaps...
Robbie is always a flash going by...
Doofus and Daphne even went out...
there's Mr Wiggles behind the tree...
Boofy stayed in the window sill...
see how green the grass is today?
with small, very small patches of ice...
we can even get to the swing now...
blue skies with soft clouds...
soon gave way to a very cloudy, but still warm afternoon...
got my shower after I cut my hair...
just on top...
and now I'm waiting on DH to come home...
supper is going to be the left over veggie soup...
and toasted ham sandwiches...
this is our last warm, warm day...
now we will be back in the 40s...
which is a lot better than being below zero...
so I'm going to take it with open arms...
can you believe we are 10 days out of March?
amazing we made it through that nasty, long winter!

it's what goes on behind the scenes that matters today...

house cleaning and a little more...
what's behind all of this?
an open window and a window sill...
and 3 little babies...
Craig titled this one...
''Birds, grass, toes..."
now Mr Wiggles isn't happy with us laughing at him...
but he soon got over it...
and if the cats are sitting in the window...
well, Robbie wanted to, too...
but he's not allowed...
so we opened the back door for him to see out...
but he would rather be in the window...
so Craig is trying to tell him he is not a cat...
window sills are only for cats...
I'm not sure he's buying it...
there could be more to this story later...
and now we are off...
getting the wheel chair out and I'm going for a walk...

you can find cool stuff here too!

this is where I found all the cool stuff that came in the box...
Rebecca and I went on a shopping spree here...
and I promise we didn't buy all the cool stuff!...
oh, and...
thank you to everyone that sent her a Valentine's card...
she was so surprised!
Muwahahahhahaha!

the box...

what was in the box from Cheryl at ZanyMayd?...
this adorable little nest...
that she made...
is my favorite thing out of the box...
because it's beautiful...
and because she made it...
my santa candle hugger...
my mom had some of these when I was a kid and I so remember them...
the ones we had were broken in a move...
a fun birthday cake pot holder...
fabric swatches...
and a few more...
she threw this in as a thank you...
love it!...
5 vintage pillow cases...
a cat with a bell...
a HIS pillow case...
love this blue and white one!...
and there's a pair of these...
and this is a gift from my best gf, Rebecca...
does it look familiar?
maybe on the outside...
it matches the one that I won in Lori Lynn's give away...
the floral decals are different...
but the outsides are the same...
now I can have tea for two...
that's not all either...
there are more things that were in the box...
but I will show you those later...
and Rebecca will have to post what she got...
it was a huge box!
love it all, Cheryl and Rebecca!
