time in a garden...

is always well spent...
even if there isn't much to do...
we did move a few things around and threw some things out...
dumped some pots...
but with things leaving, something new opens up...
my clematis finally bloomed...
half of the leaves are brown and dead...
and the flower is not perfect...
but welcome...
we have an abundance of these this year...
I have three spots of these now and only planted one...
this crack was big enough for DH to stick his hand in...
some thing didn't get as big as they could have...
but they made it...
and the begonias are a little scorched looking...
and the bricks that usually are covered with moss...
are not as green...
and it's not as pretty as it was...
but soon, fall leaves will fill the beds and winds will swirl the colors...
I woke this morning to bird song and last night went to sleep to the frogs singing in the trees...
crickets and locust fill the days...
country bugs are noisy bugs...
and the first frost will send them away...
in just a few weeks, this world will change so much...
and depending on how much rain we get...
will determine whether fall enters in a blaze...
or just fades and falls away...
praying for rain...

my final post of the day...
promise...

let's see if you can keep up...

this pretty much sets the tone for today...
for some of us...
while others are up and about, getting things done...
we have 20 mph winds, white fluffy clouds, blue skies, and bloomers...
a new transplant this spring from another part of the yard...
DH is doing the shopping in the city...
this is my 3rd post this morning...
so go back and check out the others...
the resurrection lilies are blooming!
I am so amazed by these...
see the big clouds...
we could sure use some more rain...
the big news around here...
the deaths from a storm that went through Indiana last evening...
state fair...
death toll is at 5 now...
so sad...
you just never know when your time will be...
could it be today?
are you ready if it is?
were they ready?
and for those who just missed being killed...
how will it change their lives...
praying for the families of those lost and for the survivors...
just something that made me think...

more vintage embossed images...

love the berries and butterfly...
pretty violets...
and a very uncommon one...
peaches...
for you to use or just look at...

our weekend...so far...

Friday, after supper, DH and I were sitting on the deck...
see the spider web...
one thin line...
I want to know a few things and I am going to ask God when I get to Heaven...
if He let's me in...
and one of them is...
where did he come up with the idea of a bug that had thread coming out it's butt?
and a bug that has a light in it's butt...
just to name two questions...
like I was saying...
we were sitting out here...
I already had the camera...
we decided to go for a ride and look at the dam...
someone had said it was all dried up and people were fishing off of the dam...
and there they were...
you know it's dry when the dam is dry...
so that was Friday night...
big night in a corn field...
but the clouds were rolling in and covered the sky so we missed the meteor shower...
so this is Saturday...
caught Tori napping...
you know it's so hard being a baby...
but one click and she was saying...
FEED ME NOW!
and that's about all that happened...
feeding and playing with babies...
and being quiet when they are napping...
we got .2 of an inch of rain last evening...
we could sure use some more...
need prayers for a couple families here in town...
a most beautiful lady passed away at 93...
she was such a pleasure to know and worked hard for the town...
and she loved genealogy...
we shared a passion for everything old...
Vivian was a good egg...
and another pillar of our small community...
sweet, dear Abby...
went in for surgery, they found cancer and she stroked on the table...
she has been moved to a nursing facility with hospice and has only days...
this town will not be the same without her...
she owns and puts out our weekly paper...
along with her daughter in law...
who has been battling cancer and is doing chemo now...
this woman and her late hubby have covered and photographed every event forever here...
from dinners to fish fries, ball games, plays, Christmas programs, Halloween parties...
festivals, fires, fund raisers, city wide rummage sales...
you name it, they were there with cameras in hand...
Tom died in a car wreck several years ago...
they were farmers...
and they are the quiet kind of town heroes...
they slip in and out, do their thing...
constant, timeless, friendly, giving, loving, faithful...
and I am so going to miss her...
she was the first to publish my poems in the paper...
and encouraged me to keep writing them and sending them in...
everyone, everyone loves Abby...
it's just not going to be the same around here...

I have been so blessed to have known them both...
please keep them all  in your prayers...
