this could save a life...

testicular cancer

I recently received an email from the Tommy John company...
asking me if I would post about testicular cancer on my blog...
Tommy John is teaming up with the Testicular Cancer Foundation to raise awareness...

why post on a blog that is mainly read by women?
because men need to be told to take care of themselves...
and the women in their lives need to be informed of what it is and what to do...

so I looked some things up online and came up with some information from the Mayo Clinic...
which confirmed everything that they had told me in the email...

that's not such a big number, now is it?
not unless that one belongs to you...
its the most common cancer for males between 15- 35...
MOST COMMON
we have a young man here who went to school with Craig...
he is younger, so he's in his 20s...
he is fighting testicular cancer now...
and they didn't catch it early...

its easy to detect...
just like we do our monthly breast exams, its just as important for the males in our lives to check their balls just as often...

Signs and symptoms of testicular cancer include:
  • A lump or enlargement in either testicle
  • A feeling of heaviness in the scrotum
  • A dull ache in the abdomen or groin
  • A sudden collection of fluid in the scrotum
  • Pain or discomfort in a testicle or the scrotum
  • Enlargement or tenderness of the breasts
  • Back pain
Cancer usually affects only one testicle.
(this is from the Mayo Clinic)

99%!
just by checking and detecting early...
that's an amazing result...
now, we(the girls) need to get this information to the men in our lives...
we need to make sure they know what to do and things are checked...
we need to talk to our spouses, sons, grandsons. fathers, brothers, son in laws...
anyone you love that needs to know how easy it is to detect something that could take them away from you...
