it was a long day & this is a long post...

this is how the morning started...
we only got  a drizzle last night...
so we were thinking the day would end up a little wetter...
wrong...
maple leaves emerging...
peonies...
dianthus...
from last year...
blooming already...
lily of the valley...
my mother in law's...
so since the dianthus were blooming in the ground...
I thought I had better get the leaves out of here...
tulip...
azalea...
it comes in in a  blaze and goes out in a blaze...
in between the leaves will turn green and it will have tiny pink flowers...
and it is so pretty now...
and adds color until everything else begins to bloom...
Mr Wiggles hung with us today...
you will see more of him later on...
these are the only leaves that I have on my lilac so far...
roses...
columbine that wasn't planted there...
birds ate the seed from another bed and then sat in the tree above and pooped out the seeds...
my clematis lives!...
the guys try to take this out every year...
Craig's friend, Tia stopped by...
and we talked while Craig worked...
Craig and I raked and raked and picked up more sticks out of here...
then we all went for a walk...
this is a little tractor...
peonies in a neighbor's yard...
the green is starting to fill in the scenery...
then back home...
because it was nap time...
just got to sleep good and a mower woke me up...
so Craig ran out and moved the swing...
and we put up the child gate that came via Fed Ex this morning...
so the dogs couldn't get off the porch...
a tomorrow project...
and the mowing continued...
mower guy bought 2 new zero radius mowers for this season...
they were done in 15 minutes!
and it looks wonderful, as always...
and I am tired...
I was counting on a rainy do nothing day...
but..
you just have to roll with it...
and when you get a 71 degree day with just a small breeze...
totally perfect day...
you can't just lay around and do nothing inside...
I have no clue where the rain went...
but we have another chance Sunday...
and I am going to just supervise tomorrow...
and let the guys do the muscle part...
that's my plan anyway...
see you tomorrow!

Pink Saturday...

this is my neighbor's tulip japanese magnolia tree...
(thanks, ladies, for helping me identify this tree)
it is beautiful today...
I have watched it grow over the years...
it was very small when I moved into the neighborhood 28 years ago...
and it never fails to bring a smile to my face...
hope your weekend is sunny and bright...
and you are able to enjoy the pinks outside...
and that they make you smile, too...
join the party and spread the smiles!

fasten your seatbelts...

we're going no where fast...
can your see the prices for gas this week?
up to $4 at the one place and Casey's is just under $4...
I think we need to invest in a golf cart for our next vehicle...
battery operated with a solar panel...
with the wind here lately...
maybe we could hook a wind mill up to one...
when I was a kid...
we went cruising if we had a dollar...
we would pool our change...
get 3 gallons of gas...
give the guy a dollar...
and...
get change back!
we were good to go for the weekend!
the kids today don't cruise...
they park!
they drive to the square and park...
get out and walk around...
times change...
the kids next door meet their friends in their garage...
really...

our ride around town yesterday...

we went to get the mail, stop by the store and then we stopped by Martha's...
we needed eggs and it was time to grab the weekly local paper...
all 8 pages of it...
and we saw a few signs of spring along the way...

things are just popping up over night...
love this tulip tree!
daffodils are everywhere...
and they were out in bunches at the golf coarse...
and just look how green...
and while Craig ran into Martha's...
I grabbed the camera and started shooting...
the mason work on the bank...
and there's  Martha's...
she sells a little bit of everything...
rents movies and games...
and is just so funny...
and it being a small town and all...
I needed a birthday card for my dad...
his last one...
so Craig went in to grab all the dad birthday cards and bring them out to me so I could pick one...
try that in a big town...
she only hsd one for dad that wasn't from a child...
and it was a keeper...
so Craig went back in and paid for it and grabbed an easter card for dad, too...
and then we drove around some more...
without the heat on and the windows half down...
there's more photos coming later of a couple other places I want to show you...
but between now and then, I need to come up with a pink saturday post...
clueless again...
I have been thinking on it...
wish a pink tulip would bloom or something pink!
need to go through my postcard images again...
some weeks it comes easy and some it don't...
well, better get back to bed!
