it's been a day...

oh, it's still 87 and it's almost 10pm...
we have a large storm front coming in but I wanted to get this blogged before it hit...
my oldest son called me at 4am this morning....
he wanted money to come home...
he's been married for 5 years now...
most of it rocky...
and I think it's finally ended...
so we had to wait till 7 to wire him the money...
he started out and made it to Paducah...
a Ky highway patrolman, Robert, called...
Doug was broke down along the highway...
he'd broken a radiator belt...
a simple fix... but with the heat and traffic...
it wasn't safe to do along side of the road...
not enough money to be towed or get it fixed...
this patrolman took care of him...
he waited with him for 2 hours for a tow truck...
I just said I don't know anyone there...and asked him if he knew someone he could trust...
he called the tow truck and they took my son and the van...worked him in their very busy schedule...
called me back and let me charge it over the phone...and sent him on his way...
he made it to a friend's house just 40 minutes shy of here and is spending the night...
he was beat...
my son is deaf....
and they took the time to make sure he was safe and taken care of...
they wrote notes and made long distant phone calls...
several of them to get him back on the road...all of this added 5 hours to his trip...
it was already 100 down there by 9am...
I put him in God's hands this morning before he left...
and angels along the way got him home...

A little update on Ryan Bruce...

they have a journal on carebridge which is awesome...
Ryan had his wreck on May 22nd...
he's been through 5 surgeries...
he lost the sight out of one eye...
can wiggle fingers and toes...
but has had swelling of the brain, broken ribs, bruised ribs and lung...
has a feed tube...
many more things to overcome...
and he needs to heal...
tiny steps each day...
one day at a time...
it will be a long journey...
a hard journey...
but they walk each step with God...
and they are reading to him...
they finished Psalms and started on John...
he just had facial surgery...
and there are minor ones to come later...
in the blink of an eye how lives can change...

Have you ever read something that you can't get off of your mind?...

This young man is a friend of a friend...
she posted him on her blog this morning...
he was in a head on collision ...
just minutes from his home...
his name is Ryan Bruce...
he is 21...
he has severe injuries...
especially the head...
he is pictured here with his sister and his mother...
we need a massive prayer chain here...
so if you all will pray and have others to pray...
it would be greatly appreciated...
whatever God's will is for them...
they are going to need his arms around them...
just whisper his name...

Jars, jars, jars...

I had this jar filled with monopoly money, houses, hotels, and all the game cards...
I had used it for many years decorating my home...
then I put it up for sale in the booth...
it didn't sell...one of them did...
the one with all the marbles...
but this one and one just like it didn't...
this is the other one...
filled with dominoes and wooden checkers...
so I had Rebecca pull them out...
and I emptied them...
so that makes two...
and I had this other one here...
with a rusty zinc lid...
this one is olive green...
the other two are blue green...
this one is full of air bubbles...
this one is my favorite....
even though I love the square Ball bail ones, too...
now that makes three...
I'm trying to figure out something really cool to do with them...
nothing ordinary or practical...
something fun...
I'll let you know when I figure it out...
it's a Ball lid, too...not a Kerr...
stay cool...it's going to be over 100 here today...
but we have relief coming next week!...
just hang on!...

my new scale...

buying it off of Rebecca...
not sure what I'm going to do with it...
been wanting one...
but a smaller one...
I don't want one of those big, big things that take up a lot of space...
this may be the new place to set my apple bowl...
