as promised...

here he is...
Bebe the pink poodle...
good thing it was cloudy out today...
the temp is in the 70s and there is a soft breeze dragging this fragrant scent of the autumn clematis across the street and into every inch of our yard...
it is growing up and around a popular tree in the vacant lot across from us...
and it's just buzzing with all kinds of bees...
and these sweet pears are from our neighbors' tree...
she thought she was getting a miniature pear tree...
but these are so large and the tree is so full of them, every branch is drooping from the weight...
she yelled out the door for us take all we wanted...
they couldn't possibly use them all...
so when we got home, I told Craig he needs to go over and see if it's ok to pick bags of them for the food pantry this week...
I think these will find good homes and be so loved by those who cannot afford them in the stores...
the rose of sharon is about spent...
and things are quieting down in the flower gardens...
and the rust is creeping higher and higher on the corn stalks behind us...
and all too soon our hiding place will be open again...
and we will be exposed...
but the winds will be able to blow more through the flat land of this place...
and we have the windows open and lace panels have been fluttering all day...
watched an old Clark Gable movie this afternoon, part of it and I am taping the rest...
I know how it ends...
but it's still a classic...
"It Happened One Night"...
love all the old cars, clothes, hair styles, cabins and gas pumps...
just loved the interior of the bus in the beginning...
looked like a fancy train car...

we got .2 of an inch of rain last night...
still had to water today...
everything under the trees didn't get a drop...
hopefully, God will send more this week...
but the 70s are going to be so much nicer to deal with...
we might even get some outside cleaning done this next week...
have a great night!

cooler days are here again...

these photos are from Friday night since I didn't take any yesterday at all...
we have just finished several 100+ days in a row...
and some of the flowers are starting to get droopy...
but not these...
had them in total shade...
and kept watering them every night...
snap dragons are on of my favorites and I really like this color...
these are the short version, which I like the best since I cannot do cut flowers in the house...
they don't fall over as much and still bloom up a storm...
the skies have been hit and miss with clouds until last night...
several storms popped up all evening and just missed us until finally...
one came through and nailed us...
we had lightening and rain!
DH's coleus is getting a trimming when the sun comes up...
there are new leaves under this big ones...
they do well in cooler weather and might just bloom again...
this is bringing us the most wonderful sweet smells ever...
the breeze just picks it up and drifts it right through our yard and onto the deck...
you can smell it as soon as you open the front door...
and it is growing out of control...
I wonder if it will reach the top of the popular someday?
and look what we found walking...
this is our northern most bush...
and growing out of it...
yep, my very own fragrant wonder...
check out the corn in the background...
they are a week from picking...
this field is a few weeks out yet...
we are going to take a drive today, so maybe I can show you some a little further along...

I have had the best time reading your comments from the last post...
I was so afraid of posting silk flowers for my PS...
I should have known I wasn't the only one who has them!
well, I am up because I can't sleep...
it's now 4am...
went to bed and slept about an hour and a half...
woke up like I had slept 8 hours...
wide eyed and bushy tailed, as mom would say...
I am so going to be dragging butt the rest of the day....

stayed tuned, though...
Friday night, I asked Craig to cut Bebe's furry fluff...
with the clippers...
I took a nap and the clipping commenced...
when I woke...
there was my poor dog...
with bald spots...
all over...
so..........
the only decent thing to do was to buzz him....
yep, he's bald now...
I will get a few photos of this poor dog when the sun comes up...
I am going to have to find the sunscreen...
I think he could get sun burnt...
have you every seen a pink poodle???
you need to come back later...
