sultry afternoon...

our rose of sharon is blooming, but not like it usually does...
and there are no Japanese beetles this year...
not one...

we have small tomatoes all over the place...

and yesterday morning, Beau Beau found this in the ferns...
attacked and killed it...
but Craig raked it out with the hoe and made sure it was dead before throwing it in the field...
I have a massive fear of them...
and he went back later to take a pic of it and it had turned this funky green color...
weird...

so what do you do when its too hot to play outside?
you tear up mom's couch...
and run amuck...

and cuddle...
its time to make the call...
you know the one where they come and get her for adoption time...
gona miss this one...

Craig and I went out to see just how bad it was yesterday while waiting for DH to get home...
hot enough to make a redneck water fountain...
I played in it, too...

while some of us napped the afternoon away...
its so hard being cute and adorable...

got a call yesterday from my step mom...
dad is in the hospital with pneumonia...
and they wanted to put in a feed tube...
I voted no...
so we'll see what happens...
there is no point and its time to let him go...
I hope she can...
keep her in your prayers...
its a hard decision sometimes...

we just missed rain to the north...
it moved through in the early hours this morning, but we still have a 30% chance...
humidity is 78% this morning...
yuck...
but if it brings some rain, it will be worth it...
glad someone got some, though...

have a good weekend...

its Friday!

are you ready for the weekend???

I am sure my hubby is...
been hotter than chili peppers here...

with no relief in sight...

out on the deck early in the mornings and after the sun goes down at night...
hiding in the ac during the day...

its been over a week since the yard was mowed and I don't think it needs it this week...
or next...

the sun is pretty coming through the lattice...

as long as we keep watering...
things keeps going...

my only cone flowers, which were transplanted this spring, are blooming this morning...

I would like to pick some more up, but we are not planting anything new until this weather breaks and we get some rain...

the sun coming up behind the flag...
the have cancelled the fourth of July fireworks in Paris, Il...
and they shoot theirs over the Twin Lakes, so we expect them to cancel a lot more of them...
they have issued a no burn order for our county...
there is no rain in the forecast for the next 10 days...

this is what Craig and I did earlier...
fresh green beans, potatoes and bacon...
2 pots full going right now...
so that's enough for the weekend...
this is our second mess of them...
nothing like fresh green beans and sliced tomatoes...

my ice melted instantly in my glass of water this morning...

so have a good weekend...
keep praying for rain and cooler temps...
for all of those who have lost their homes to the fires burning out of control...
safe journey to all who are traveling...
its going to be a hum dinger out there...

our last beautiful day for awhile...

the ferns are so toasty already, won't be much left after the next heat wave hits...
calling for 102 this Thursday..

but today was another wonderful day with a high of 82...
big sigh...

bricks for the old high school that they are tearing down...
its almost gone now...
being hauled out by truck loads...

Snikky, the neighbor, came home from camping to play with Bebe this morning...
they ran and played so hard...
Bebe had to nap afterward...

still watering and things are still blooming...

one good thing about it being so dry are the bugs are not bothering us too much...
no skeeters around!

the next 10 days will be night visits to the deck...

and the 4th of July is just around the corner...
can you believe it?
won't be long till school is ready to start again...

and just saw this on facebook, and I thought it was a great idea and just wanted to share it with you...
it would work on any bag...
of course it would be just as easy to pour the chocolate chips in the bottle and close the lid...

so have a great night and we are spending the rest of the week inside cleaning house...
kind of let things go while we played outside...
looks like a train wreck in here...
I'll let you know if we survive...

hello and goodbye...

went out to the nursery yesterday morning...
and brought home some new friends...

petunias and sweet potato vine...

always love these purple with green tinted blooms...

hanging thunbergia...
and clematis...
DH's favorite plant of all...

and he picked this one out...

cute little flowers...
happy flowers and it vines up and around anything it can...

moved my potting bench back over by the deck over the weekend and I did laundry this morning and got all the gardening gloves washed and hung up to dry...

.8 of rain last Thursday and a sprinkle or two yesterday afternoon late = a brown yard...
still praying for more...

day lilies are showing off all over the place...

and it won't be long until they are spent...
so taking them in while we can...

sedum is about to bloom...
seen many yesterday when we went for a drive that are in full bloom...
too early!

love this piece...

got some onions this morning...

and another newby...
a white rose impatien...

some days are just made for playing in the dirt and this is one of them...
wonderful, brisk breeze with cool temps = lazy, take your time and play day...
soaking up as much as we can because later this week they are calling for hundred degree days and that means inside for me...

saying goodbye to Charlie...

Please pray for a family who lost a wonderful man in their life last night. His name was Charlie and he had a heart attack, was gone for over 30 minutes and they revived him. Scan showed no brain function, so the family had to make the choice of unhooking him on Saturday afternoon. He was 55-60, our guess, but the family is so close and the love so great, their pain is going to be massive as they go through the motions the rest of the week with visitation and the funeral. His wife is Ramona and his daughters are Stephanie and Charla. Charla used to babysit for us when the kids were not quite to that age where you can leave them alone and they had great times with her and her family on Friday nights when we bowled in league. Charlie never met a stranger and always seemed happy go lucky anytime you would run into him. Always a tease with a great sense of humor and a little mischief twinkle in his eye. I am sure he lifted Jesus robe as soon as he got in the gate just for laughs. He will be so missed by the whole town. It sure is Heaven's gain and I am so glad that he was called home soon and didn't have to suffer.

so, get out there and enjoy today...
we may not have tomorrow...

on the mend

well, all you have to do is ask for prayer and things get better quickly...
doing so much better now...
even got supper down...
will start back on the meds in the morning...
even got to go for a walk and sit out in the yard a bit...
going to head for bed early and see if I can't get some sleep...
God is good and so are blogging friends...

PLEASE PRAY

PINCHED NERVE IN BACK
MAKING ME SO SICK
CAN'T GET OUT OF BED
5 HOURS NOW

almost an inch...

we got 8/10 of an inch of rain after lunch today...
and it came, at first, in big, huge drops that didn't amount to much...
so DH and I took a walk...
got all the way to the end of the street and it cut loose again...
big time...

Bebe was with us...
we all got soaked...
so back we came to towel off and change clothes and sit and watch it rain...
then the wind picked up and it was driving in...
so in the house we ran...
but its over with now...
and we did get more than they said we would...
so thank you, Lord, for hearing our prayers...
it sure cooled off some, too...
hope all of you east of us gets a dab of this, too...

out with the old, in with the new...

on the way home from the doctor, we swung by the old high school here...

they started the demo on Monday...
the flag is at half mask...

working on the top floor...
the new high school is in the right back ground of the photo...
this was not MY high school...
but it still took my breath away with the first glimpse...
it has always been here for me...
I can't imagine what it feels like for her alumni...

well, good news and bad news from the doctor...
I do have bronchitis...
he gave me amoxicillin for that...
should start feeling better in a day or two....

now the good news...
I am in the perfect range for my blood sugar and the weight loss was impressive...
he is very happy with my progress...
told me I was doing a good job and that I must be lactose intolerant...
I am to keep doing what I have been doing...
yeah!

I need to go back for a blood test for the diabetes, but I need to fast so couldn't do it this morning...
stopped at Burger King on the way home...
and had a whopper for lunch...
tried to take a nap, but couldn't sleep...
so here I am...

DH brought me home and we all did lunch, then grabbed the list and headed back over there to get the shopping done...
the car ride over made me sick to my tummy, so he brought me home so he could take his time and all that...
so just sitting here waiting on him to get back home...

praying for rain...

good morning...

its a good morning on the deck...

but we need some rain...

the yard is so dry...

so we are praying for rain...

the new weather forecasts show a chance tomorrow, but took it out for the weekend...

and even thought the sunshine is pretty...
we would like to sit out here and just watch it rain...

now, yesterday, we tore all of this out...

put the black cloth down and put it all back again...

the guys did 99.9% of the work...
but someone had to tell them how to do it...
I did 100% of that...
they have tried to fire me...
but I won't leave...
squatting rights...

the yard hasn't been mowed in almost 2 weeks now...
and except for the weeds, it could go another week...

got to head for the doctor in an hour...
maybe pick up a boston fern...
and of course, a whopper...
well, need to find some caffeine to get me going...
later...
