my husband and his cousin, in from Topeka, this evening...
he rides a harley...
cheaper on gas...
and we had a nice visit...
the day started off pretty good...
then my hubby and I hear a noise...
couldn't figure it out right away...
weird noise...
so the morning goes on and we finally figure out the hot water heater isn't working...
my son got a shower...
but hubby and I needed one bad...
figures...
so I put in a desperate call to a friend...
I need her hubby to get with mine to check this out...
meanwhile, I'm online trying to find the best/ cheapest one I can find...
asap...
sticker shock is putting it mildly...
haven't bought one in years!...
yeah...
so my friends come right after lunch...
heating element...
we have about half of the water we used to for now...
we got showers!...
it's up and running, sort of...
my son will pick up the heating element tomorrow at the hardware store...
and friend will be back later this week to put it in...
in the meantime...
(did I mention said water heater is in our closet???)
while half of the stuff is out of the closet and laying on our bed...
my dh pulls the rest out and we clean and purge...
major purge...
like one very large rolling garbage can size...
plus two bags...
I had clothes over 16 years old in there...
shameful, I know...
but it's gone...
I really was a good girl and let go of so much...
there are tubs in the living room...
beside the bed...
waiting...
oh yeah, right before he comes back...
we have to drain the water heater...
hose from the heater to the toilet will work...
that's going to be fun...
I have carpet in the bedroom and my bathroom...
dumb...
I know...
will not do that again!...
so...it's been a day...
but I did get my nap in...
and our cold front came through!!!!...
71F right now...

My goodness, what an eventful time you've had! We've replaced our water heater twice, so I know about that sticker shock! Now we always take the warranty they offer..it's worth it since things no longer last for years! On the positive side, you got a chance to purge always a good idea but hard to do without incentive...:)
I love the comments you leave on my posts..so clever and full of thought, especially the one you wrote today about Glasgow Cathedral. So many do look outside for what they need, instead of searching their own hearts. Thanks for that reminder...

Goodmorning! What a day you had! Ours went out shortly after we bought the house - :)
We opted for one of those tankless water heaters -
unfortunately in our old house only one thing can run at a time -
Funny how one thing leads to another - thanks for stopping by - our homes are fun to change and to redecorate!
Hope this day is a good one!

Hi sweet pea...sorry to hear about your water heater. Our's is on it's last leg, and it's in a real tiny spot. Sounds like you got lots done, even with the problem.
Hope everything goes well with the heating element installation.
LOVE your Blue Monday post!!
