Slinging hash...

philly steak and cheese in the works...
let the onions and peppers carmelize and add a touch more water and let that cook out...
then Craig wanted hot ham and cheese...
as soon as the potatoes were done...
they were drained...
and added milk and black pepper...
DH's philly steak and cheese...
look at those onions...
the house smells so good right now...
Craig's hot ham and cheese...
my mom used to do these and they were soooooo good...
and then we added a bowl of soup...
it's hard to photo white on white...
but I'm sure you all know what potato soup looks like...
I want to thank Lori Lynn for the idea of having this very common but very comforting dinner idea...
and there's enough left to graze on all day...
it is yummy...
my mom and grandma both made this when I was a kid...
but grandma's was better...
it always tastes better at grandma's, don't  you think?...
and I remember sitting in her yellow kitchen with the windows steamed up with the wind and snow swirled around outside and we were warm and comfy and full inside...
that was my little brown plastic bowl that I always used at grandma's...
and that was the kitchen that she cooked in...
just for me...
I have taught both of my boys to make all the things that I remember from my mom and grandma, since they left when they were so small...
to carry them and their memories on and to keep them alive in our lives...
so they will use these for their kids and grandkids...
and pass it on down...
Happy Sunday!

Oh, that picture of you at the table is SWEET!!! I envy you. Most all of my family's early photos were lost years ago in a move. I do remember vividly eating potato soup in MY gramma's kitchen.
Have a great Sunday!

Oh...I love your photo of you as a little girl. You know I never thought about it before but I don't remember EVER eating a meal at my Gramma's house. We were over there all the time but I don't think I ever ate there. Isn't that funny/odd? I know that Grampa died when I was about 10 and I guess he was very abusive (verbally) but I don't remember much about him except I was a bit afraid of him. And my Gramma was just the sweetest little woman ever. All the big family meals were at our house and my Gramma came there for Thanksgiving and Christmas and all the other gatherings. Thanks for the memories. I hope my grandkids have good memories of the time they spent with me someday. Hugs- Diana

What a sweetie you were and still are. My sons (I only have the 2 boys) learned early on how to cook, iron and sew. My one son used to pick up extra money in the Coast Guard sewing on rate/rank & award patches for all the guys...lol...Those recipes look really yummy. We're having cheese and Ritz crackers and minestrone soup tonight.

Nikki spent the afternoon over at her Dad & Step Moms, I had to stay busy, so I continued to add more to my etsy shop.... I have been sitting at this computer for HOURS, I must get up & move... guess it is actually time for bed, but wanted to stop by.....
