wave good bye...

to the corn...
it was picked late Wednesday...
the kids loved watching them pick when they were little...
if we were lucky to be home when it happened...
but most years...
we came home from a long day at school and work...
to find it gone...

and it will be 2 years before we see the corn like this again...
because they rotate the crops...
next year will be beans...
I would rather have corn...
and I miss it already...
it's usually the last field picked...
a sign that harvest is over...
but they picked it first this year...
so no rustling during fall decorating...

and it's a tad different living in the middle of all these fields...
we go from being totally exposed to totally isolated...
and then back to totally exposed...
in East Central Illinois...
the landscape and the weather change with the seasons...
the only constant we have is change...
and it's always joked upon...
yearly, we can go from 115 to -20...
monsoon season to drought...
windy to calm...
sunny to completely overcast...
when I first moved here...
the locals always said...
if you don't like the weather today...
just wait a day or two...
it'll change...
so, here we are...
standing here stark naked again...
in the middle of another change...
it takes a bit getting used to...
LOL

have a great day...

And the season changes....I agree once I lived near a field and I like the corn better than the beans.

We are on opposite schedules. We had soy beans this year and get the corn next year. I love all the privacy we get from the corn. It's always a little of a shock when it gets cut down.
