are we melting yet?

heat index is 109 today...
so guess where I am...

the garden is doing very well in all the rain and heat...

I love this design...

just a simple oval...
easy to mow around...
with the green beans planted on the very outside edge...
I can sit on my wagon/cart thingy and pick...
would you believe that we got 2 walmart bags of green beans on Monday?

we cooked them last night and had a neighbor for supper...
he didn't get a garden out this year...
and there are plenty of green tomatoes out there...
just waiting for them to turn...
we also have  a little humming bird coming in and eating from the tomato blooms...

the grass is still growing like spring time and its holding onto the dark green color...
and the bugs are terrible this year...
mosquitoes are nasty little things...
but the lightning bugs are so numerous this year, its fun watching the yard go dark...
wish I could have been there on the making of those...
ya know, someone asking God what are you going to do with that one?
oh, I'm going to make his butt light up...
it'll be fun, just wait and see...

I posted last time about turning the blog into a private one...
well, I have decided to leave it open...
for now anyway...
all because of 3 comments...

squash and turnips...
under the willow tree...

the hydrangea are having the time of their lives in this rainy, humid, hot stuff...

so Susie and Beth, my old friends...
we have been blogging together for so long now...
you seem like family...
thank you for your comments...

LA Dreamin' is going to be one of our favorite things in the yard...

and the 3rd comment was from Annarica from a small village in South Africa...
it touched my heart to hear from you...
its still amazes me how with the internet, that we can connect with people all over the world...
well, sweetie, your comments sure mean something to me...
I'm from a small town, too...
I think we would get along just fine and looking forward to hearing more from and about you...
I hope you have time to comment more often...

made veggie soup the other night...
so having that tonight for supper...
then the other part of the green beans on Thursday...
left overs on Friday to clear out the fridge so we can start over again...
Craig brought home corn on the cob...
25 cents an ear this year...
they were up to $5 for 4 last year...
we didn't buy any...
:)
but we are this year...
got blooms on the green peppers, too...
they seem to like it cooler, but look pretty good to me...
will see how they fill out...

well, all the animals are in...
and napping...
so think I will join them here, if there is space in my bed...
I see the couch is already taken...
:)

have good days and stay out of the heat...
only 30% chance of rain now...
may be watering after dark...
cooler tomorrow...

Tete, I am happy you are still blogging. I loved seeing all the things you have grown. I like the idea of bean picking sitting down. LOL. With all the rain and heat things are growing well. Even weeds. Ted has a big weed whacker he has used for years, I can't handle that thing it seems awkward to me , so I got a new battery powered one . I miss my tiny little electric one. LOL I did get the edge of the yard cleaned up somewhat. I love that big hydrangea flower head. Wishing you a fun filled weekend. Blessings to you sweet girl, xoxo, Susie

Hi there Tete, thank you for deciding to keep your blog open. I enjoy your photos, and you sharing your every day life. My life has changed, my mother now has dementia and just last month our son was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer. He started chemo and radiation and I am going to be staying at their home through his treatments and surgery. I am not too good anymore at multi-tasking, so this has been very trying for me. Then last week I got pneumonia and ended up in the hospital. When it rains it pours. Your blog is a reminder that life is about the simple things, enjoying a summer evening watching lightning bugs, eating fresh vegetables and watching things grow. Keep posting, you are helping me! jackie aka geedazee

I watered today; it took about 5 hours. We have not had a good rain in quite some time - over 2 weeks. It's very hot too. We had wetter weather early on this spring/summer and the mosquitoes were horrible! Now there aren't too many because it's dry. Our garden looks great, but if we weren't watering not sure it would! Your hydrangeas are stunning! Glad you are keeping the blog open; there are more people reading than you might think based on comment volume. Take care, and stay cool!
