sorting old photos...

I have been scanning some old photos to get into files so I can order copies for my kids and some cousins...
so these are the ones I found of me...
so far...
these were taken in Ohio...
that's me sitting on the bread...
in my grandma's kitchen before they redid it...
I had a thing about sitting on bread...
this was Christmas and I was 16 months old...
notice the stragegically placed furniture so I couldn't get to the TV and fireplace...
that's granny in the background...
my dad and me and all my animals...
see my hickory dickory clock?
I got my first tricycle that year...
I fell alseep on my dad...
I spent a lot of time on his lap in that old recliner...
Ok- it's not that I am not happy...
I am now officially blind...
it happened every Christmas morning...
dad used a huge flood light to take movies...
I totally couldn't see anyone...
I would look to where the voices came from...
Santa and me in Ashland, Ohio on the corner of where the Grant Department Store was...
me and my brother...I was 4...
my mom could never cut my bangs straight...
my 5th birthday...
and then mom cut my hair and I started kindergarten...
this is my first day of school ever with my pink rug that I would take my naps on...
see my ugly shoes?
I hated going to the shoe store in the fall to get my school shoes...
I wore a AA width...
with extremely high arches...
they usually only had one pair in my size...
but every now and then they would have two to pick from..
ugly and uglier...
see the bottles on the tv...
they were old decanters that my mom had given to her...
we filled them with water and green food coloring!
my 7th birthday...
Mifflin Lake, Ohio...
my mom made my outfit...
it was August 17th, 1969...
and this was my birthday present!
I even have on my pop beads!
10 minutes after this photo...
I was covered in methyolate...
yeah,  I crashed...
didn't scratch my bike at all...
but I did a number on my knees, ankles, elbows and the all of the in between hide I had...
it was the coolest bike ever and I was so tough on it!
it had a banana seat with purple flowers!
I rode that bike for 8 years...
I would dig it out in the spring...
wash it and chrome cleaner to clean the shiny parts...
air the tires and I wouldn't get off of it until late fall...
we had to put our bikes up in the winter...
which I thought was so unfair...
there will be more later...
but not of me...
whew...

Looking back...September 2010...

it was the month I got my new wheel chair!
and in cleaning...
I found some cool things I forgot I had...
sugar snips and an infuser...
pretty skies...
and lots of bugs...
this mantis had lost its green color and was brown waiting for fall...
of painting...
combines...
and dust and allergies!
beautiful butterflies on the sedum...
of lounging the evenings away...
Bebe...
and the leaves were coming down...
purple clouds and full moons...
we had a slew of these little guys with all the early rains...
and this one was performing one night...
bees and butterflies...
leaves, tomatoes and rust...
the corn was picked so early...
and we had a whole month to enjoy the fall...
and the most impressive clouds...
and pink sunsets...
and that was September...

Blog Party is next Sunday!

Don't forget that this coming Sunday is the blog party!
any collection of 3 or more will do...
the linky will be up on Saturday night...

Don't forget to grab Debbie's Prayer Warrior button on the side to post on your blog...
and keep her in your prayers...

Looking back...August 2010...

I always loved it when my mom would move this one to the front and center position...
I knew it meant my birthday was coming...
college boy with study buddies...
began working on Halloween...
roses at sunrise...
it was also the drought month...
after all the rain we had in the spring and through June...
it dried up quick and brought an early fall...
a locust just out of his shell...
Daphne nappin'...
morning glories...
changing it up...
see the little moth...
a snail's view...
my new cushions for my birthday...
at it's best and we still had Georgie...
that's all she does...
morning glories up close...
harvest came early...
my guys on my birthday...
gearing up for all the corn and beans...
from the garden...
and a rescue...
his mommy got hit by a car...
2 babies were rescued and turn back out in the fall....
we rescued one when I was in junior high and it was so fun to play with a little one again...
our neighbor had them and we would visit them every day when we went for our walks...
see those claws?
never, ever mess with one after they have their teeth...
they can and will tear you up...
I still have scars from ours...
and she loved me...
it's all good and cool until they get mad...
and they do get mad...
I used to hide treats of fruit and veggies in her cereal bowl...
it she didn't like it...
she would hit you in the back of the head with it when you turned around...
she didn't like celery...
(baby oatmeal cereal is hard to get out of your hair...)
and we got her when her eyes were still closed...
a full grown coon can kill a large dog...
we had turned ours loose twice and she found her way back and then wouldn't let us out the back door...
so my dad and uncle trapped her and dad found a great spot to let her go...
there were no houses for miles, a river that never went dry, corn fields and apple trees...
we watched her run right down to the water and she washed her hands and started playing with the rocks...
she looked back at me twice and then disappeared down the bank...
chattering all the way...
she approved...
