today's best...

Doug changed this up for me yesterday morning...
last night, it could have frosted...
so we brought in the pots on and around the deck...
and this morning I awoke to blooms on my counter...
and we had about 10 minutes of sun this morning...
enough time to do a walk about...
lily of the valley...
petunias, portulaca and dianthus...
sunshine...
this is a mess!
it's all over the side yard...
it comes off the hybrid popular that was grafted with a cotton wood...
columbine...
by now the sun is hiding...
tulip...
and it hid really well the rest of the morning...
elm leaves, iris and peonies...
new growth on the ever green...
another cup and saucer feeder...
pansy...
birds on a wire...
and finally this afternoon...
sunshine again...
maple tree...
passersby...
clouds and flyers...
Mr Wiggles chewing on a stick...
rose leaves...
did not get a lot done today...
3 loads of laundry...
car washed...
lunch...
nap...
blogging...
sweeping...
dusting...
and now supper...

have a great evening...

yesterday's best photos...

have a happy day...

White Wednesday...

this week I'm posting vintage Mother's Day images...
and I want to wish all the mothers a wonderful weekend...
my mother passed in 1994...
and it's been so long since we have talked face to face...
she was the biggest influence in my life...
and is responsible for who I am today...
if you still have your mother on this side...
make sure you hug her while you can...
and happy Mother's Day to all the step moms out there...
for they step into shoes that are sometimes hard to fill...
but they hang in there and love you, too...
Happy Mother's Day to my step mom, Paula...
who has loved and taken care of my dad...
no matter what...
Happy Mother's Day, mom...
you are always in my heart...
forever...

around the square...

this old barn sits behind a house on the square...
it has been there at since at least the early 1900s...
if not before...
they would have kept horses, the buggy and a milk cow in here...
hay door...
then there is this white picket fence between the barn and chicken coup...
the little doors were for ventilation on hot summer days...
it's covered in ivy now...
the east side...
northeast side...
the south side...
then we picked up a new geranium...
I usually don't like them...
but how can you say no to hot pink?
Craig got it for me for Mother's Day...

I had a dark purple one a couple years ago that I loved!
but can't find it in that color now!
ARG!

hopefully...
the sun will come out today...
or at least quit raining...

we are having our City Wide Rummage Sale this weekend...
they are calling for rain on both days...
if it rains...
it won't be a good rummage day...

do you have a City Wide?
we have them here in the little towns...
there will be tons of sales in one area and you won't be able to drive around town for all the shoppers!
we have 2 a year...
it costs $5 to get on the list and they advertise in all the area papers...
people come from miles around to grab the goodies...
when they first started...
I would take my ford ranger...
and when it was full, we would come back, unload and head out again...
I used to get some good stuff!
of course, there were ones who let me in early...
which is always nice...

have a great day!

this morning's walk about...

the front bed is really growing so fast...
a slow steady rain of .2 last night has had many benefits...
the columbine are beginning to bloom...
and soon the humming birds will come...
the peonies have tight buds...
and soon they will open...
along with the iris...
by this weekend it should be an awesome sight...
my shadow...
Mr Wiggles...
is having a hard time waking up this morning...
there is still more to do here...
the decroative grass has come back...
so we will be digging it all up and getting rid of it again...
baby tulips are open this morning...
and I have sat here many times already...
this could end up being my favorite place to spend time...
a pink tulip...
still wet...
in the lilac...
and a second one...
hiding...

I have a hard time understanding how there can be so much hate in the world when God has given us so much beauty...
so much peace in our soul...
but it just proves that a world without Christ is chaos...
and a soul without Him is tortured...
one man caused so much pain...
and one man gave everything He had to save the world...

everyone of us has the potential to change lives...
to touch souls...
to reach out and be what God needs us to be...
one life...
our life...
can make a difference...
it's our choice...
to do good or evil...
what a waste it is if we do not choose good...
