it was a quiet afternoon until...

these little guys showed up...
Kirbie, Kamie and Katie are on their way to be adopted...
they were ready and we were taking them back this weekend anyway...
so Jane called this afternoon and said she had 4 week old babies who needed bottle fed...
and as soon as they dropped them off at her house, she brought them here...
and she took the other 3 to the vet's for the weekend, where they will be tested for aids and luekemia...
wormed and all the fun stuff and then they will be up for adoption...
they will be in ac, that's was very important for me...
we kept them a week longer than needed because of the severe heat advisories that are now running until Sunday night...
we are feeding every 2 hours...
and they had not been stimulated and were given cows milk for 24 hours...
yippee...
they have all peed but no poopies yet...
lungs are clear and they are fat and sassy...
2 of them still have their eyes closed, ;)
this is what I was doing after lunch...
sitting in the shade and dead heading...
but I didn't stay long...
today was our hottest day yet...
someone in town had 103...
have no idea what the index was...
and I don't want to know...
DH stopped by the Methodist church this evening on his way home from work and gave blood...
and he has to do blood tests in the morning...
they come to work and do them for free every year...
hope he doesn't get light headed tomorrow...
just one more day and he can have a couple off...
not planning any yard work at all this weekend...
just watering...
and Craig and I can handle the housework...
so he is getting it off...
he's earned it this week...
have a great night
Today I am thinking about the wisdom God reveals to us when we are willing to admit we need help. Since God's ways are higher than ours let's seek God's advice in ALL things.  Rememember Jesus will be Glorified through every thing that is from God. If Jesus is not there it is not from God.

just beachy...

women should have drown in all those clothes...
but one thing hasn't changed in all the years...
and that's the love of the beach...
so here's some vintage beachy images for all my beachy friends...

frying today...

chicken that is...
cooked it this morning before the afternoon heat...
had it for supper...
with mashed potatoes and peas...
remember to wipe off the lens of the camera when you step outside...
or you get shots like this...
and then after 3 or 4 photos like that, you finally figure out they look funny...
and you take you shirt tail and start wiping...
the tomatoes love this heat!
there are quite  a few on here now...
I can almost taste them...
we are holding our own...
Daphne loves the heat and the hotter the better...
she doesn't move a lot...
she is in pain most of the time, I think...
but she will not come inside...

a few hot weather tips...
besides drink so much water you have to sit in the bathroom half the day...
change the filters on the furnace if you have central air(we did that today and made a huge difference)...
or wash your filter if you have ac...
find shade when you can...
or a pool...
a pool in the shade would be great...
eat lots of ice cream...
wet towels on top of your head and around your neck really do help...
eat lots of reese's peanut butter cups...
eat out and don't heat up the kitchen...
google blizzard and check out all the snow we don't have and be happy with the heat...
close all your blinds and curtains so when you run around in the house in your under wear, the neighbors won't freak out...
and last but not least, turn the hose on and have a little fun!
Have a great evening...

the heat wave continues here...

as with most of the US...
we are in a heat advisory/warning until 7pm Saturday...
the grass is turning brown in spots...
and leaves are falling...
the walnut tree has many yellow leaves...
but there was one cloud in the sky last night...
and it looked like it had brush strokes in it...
I thought it was awesome...
we missed out on all the rain...
the ac units around here are having trouble keeping the moisture out...
I can't get ours below 40% humidity in here, but ours is doing better than most...
it's staying right around 79...
DH said the office at work, and it's a very small building...
was leveling out at 87 on the highest setting...
and the moisture was awful...
so many are finding their ac just wasn't made for this kind of humidity...
we could use a dehumidifier, but then what would we do with it the rest of the year?
just a few more days...
a few more days...
but then we have August...
I don't even want to think about that...
not yet...
July is bookin' right along the way it is...
where does time go?
