I died today. You got tired of me and took me to the shelter. They were overcrowded and I drew an unlucky number. I am in a black plastic bag in a landfill now. Some other puppy will get the barely used leash you left. My collar was dirty and too small, but the lady took it off before she sent me to the Rainbow Bridge . Would I still be at home if I hadn’t chewed your shoe? I didn’t know what it was, but it was leather, and it was on the floor. I was just playing. You forgot to get puppy toys. Would I still be at home if I had been housebroken? Rubbing my nose in what I did only made me ashamed that I had to go at all. There are books and obedience teachers that would have taught you how to teach me to go to the door. Would I still be at home if I hadn’t brought fleas into the house? Without anti-flea medicine, I couldn’t get them off of me after you left me in the yard for days. Would I still be at home if I hadn’t barked? I was only saying, “I’m scared, I’m lonely, I’m here, I’m here! I want to be your best friend.” Would I still be at home if I had made you happy? Hitting me didn’t make me learn how. Would I still be at home if you had taken the time to care for me and to teach manners to me? You didn’t pay attention to me after the first week or so, but I spent all my time waiting for you to love me.

 I died today.

now if that doesn't make you cry, nothing will...

cloudy skies again...

tis a little dark and dreary out today...

the beans are drying and some are even picking already...

this field could be gone within a week...

but with all the gloom and doom...

there is color...

vibrant color...

my hot pink is back...

I bought this for the color...

but when it turned hot...

it turned red...

and now it's pink again with the cooler weather...

Dh didn't get home until after 8 last night...

ate supper, showered, watch a very little bit of tv...

and then off to bed...

not much of an anniversary for him...

we will do something later...

when harvest is over...

Kyle called and needs Craig's  help at the food pantry tonight...

the pantry is open every two weeks here...

and we go when we need to...

and we have been going this past month...

until the overtime money starts coming in...

September is our worst month with property taxes, car and home insurance due and the van needs plates...

it has helped so much!

they also opened a second hand shop next to it for clothes and small appliances, dishes and housewares...

I haven't been in there yet...

I have donated to it in the past...

but they are only open on Saturday mornings and then every other Thursday when the pantry is open...

my neighbor gets her clothes and shoes there...

they are both retired and on a fixed income, which isn't very much...

everything is donated, nothing is priced...

if you can afford to, you give a donation for what you get...

and that money goes back into the food pantry...

well, have a great day and enjoy this lovely fall weather...

it is inspiring me to change things up and take more naps...

enjoying the afternoon...

this afternoon has been so pretty for the first day of fall...

but instead of showing you the first of fall...

I wanted to share the last of summer...

and sunspots...

and blooms...

green...

lonesome here...

spending our anniversary apart...

he's already an hour later than his normal 8 hours...

overtime...

we so need it right now...

and he is grabbing every minute of it...

I just wish he would have come home early today...

but he is practical...

men tell you that they love you every day...

if you know how to listen to them...

every morning they get out of bed and head for a job that they do not like...

every time they grab extra hours...

every week when they bring their check home...

they are saying that they are doing this for you...

your family...

some women don't see that...

they want to talk and they need to hear it...

sometimes you need to listen with your heart...

his gift to me today is working over...

my gift to him would have been for him to come home early...

but since he is there...

it will be to use that extra money wisely...

to pay as many bills as possible and to stick as much back as I can...

not to waste what takes so much of him to give...

he has told me every day for 27 years that he loves me...

and I have heard every word...

27 years ago...

 I married my best friend...
