weeding in the afternoon...

I almost hated pulling this grass in front of the chippy old door...
reminds me of home on the farm...
there were always weeds around the barns and out buildings...

but they came out today...

this is a new, darker purple one...

and the yellow really glows like that in the sun...

and the iris are doing so good this year...

we stuck these little bulbs in here and there and they are just popping up every where...

so here is the main hired hand in progress...

as I sat here and pulled the grass...

had to get a couple shots before they were gone...
doesn't that say country to you?

these are going to be dark ones, too...

just pretty...
and its their first season here...

the first white one that bloomed is beginning to fade...

one of my favorite places in the yard...

and the weeds pile up fast...

soon to be...

ok, these are just fun...
Craig found them at a rummage sale and we painted them one color...
and they spin well...

almost finished...
and then he grabbed the camera...

for another senior moment...

the finished product...
the mulch is yet to come...
but I think we are about ready...

just wait until you see what I drug home from our walk tonight...
later...

"senior " photos...

been trying to take a good self photo this morning...
but no luck at all...
my arms are not long enough...
so Craig comes in and says he can do it...
says they look funny because they aren't natural...

so he takes 2 photos...
not bad...
better than what I did...
and I was pleased until he announced that he took my senior photos...
now with graduation upon us here in this tiny little town...
I am thinking great shots of a cute chick..
NO!
he says senior as in OLD...
to put on my application for the nursing home...
or if I get lost, to hand over to the cops so they can find me...

he thought it was funny...
I had to eat chocolate...
LOL

so there's your laugh for the day...
and my SENIOR photos...

have a good one...

yesterday...

using my little red wagon for my garden tools...
the basket of hand tools rides in here, too...

the chairs need one more can of celery and then they will be done...
will get that ordered tomorrow...
it will be here on Friday...
I sat on my butt and raked the rocks and got all the yuck out of there...
seeds pods and small sticks, a few weeds, but its clean now...

the guy who goes oui oui in the flowers...
Jean Pierre is so glad to be out of the tub...

the gazing ball is getting so dull from all the years it has on it...

love my sun things...

stars...

pink urn...

I don't even know how long I have had this little guy, but he keeps showing up in the flower beds year after year...

no plantings in here this year...
just rust...

need to hit the bird cage again...
got a list of to dos...
but we have all summer to get it done...

and I found this today...
its so true...
friends...
they make life better...

cloud covered day with the promise of rain, but we ended up watering tonight...
north of us had over 8 inches...
the corn prices may dance around a bit...
they will have to replant there...

they are calling for 70s now the rest of the week and I can't wait for that...
my favorite kind of weather...
really thinking of heading for bed early...
you all have a good night and great tomorrow...

come see...

this is Friday night's fish dinner...
it was yummo...

and then yesterday, we got some photos of the mother's garden...
the dutch iris are so pretty...

we did not get this area finished...
it turned off hot and we needed to work in the shade...
by the time the shade came around, we were too pupt from finding other things to do..

these bulbs were planted last fall...

and I am going to add more to the other beds...

DH went to town yesterday and came home with this...
a yellow climbing rose...

the tag said it was pink...
but that sure looks yellow to me...
he said it was the only yellow one in a sea of pink...

more of these guys...

those are the 3 different colors that have come up...

yesterday was a hard day...
took all of this up and spread the black Preen no weed fabric and then put it all back...

this is just wonderful...
not much room left to stick anything in it...

and the rest are just a few photos I got just walking around...

we worked over here today...

onions are up!

and the rest of the flowers that we have are planted...

today we weeded over here...

and Craig pulled the magic tub out from under the deck...
and we washed all the fun things up and got those scattered about...

there's a special little guy going oui oui in the flowers again...
you'll have to come back tomorrow to see who I am talking about..
if you haven't figured it out already...

and I will show you the things that have been packed away for months...
and how the whole thing came out...

it is hot here...
and humid...
got the air on and the humidity is still 50% inside...
but we had a good day...
and it is looking better...
always more to do, you know...

did get a couple names for deck construction...
so will be giving them a call tomorrow and hopefully getting some estimates...
also have a couple looking for more bowling balls for me...
;)
you can never have too many of those...
well, maybe you can...
but I'm not there...
yet...

also, it was a good day to reflect...
being thankful...
and I am so going to miss my friends as they party on the other side...
and I know they are having the best time...
and they are meeting up with friends and loved ones who have been there for a long time...
kind, good souls are always missed on this side...
and they were both that indeed...
and thank you for all your prayers sent and your kind words...
peace to you...

what really matters...

there comes a time for everything in this world...
everything in our lives...
and some of that time is for waiting...
for trusting...

somewhere around the corner...
the answers await...

timing...
its all about timing...

storms come and storms go...
but there is shelter...
and there is peace...
until the storm passes...

lost another great lady here in our little town today...
found out she had cancer 2 months ago...
and today, she was set free...

she was a most talented painter...
we did shows together years ago...
she loved history...
and she was also my neighbor...
just a hop, skip and jump away...

her storm has passed and she is safe now...
away from all that caused pain...
sorrow...
but she will be missed...
greatly...

remember her family and others like them who are having to learn to let go...
who are in the middle of their storms...
who need the waves to calm and skies to clear...

its not easy being of this world...
but it will all be worth it...
