one of the best sounds in the world...

is a summer rain...

on a tin roof...

we got a lot of thunder and lightening yesterday afternoon...
but less than a tenth of an inch of rain...
but we'll take it...
we are over cast again this morning, but nothing showing on the radar...
its building on top of us again...
and its so humid out...
heat and pollen advisory again today...
the green is sneaking back into the yard slowly...
still more brown than green...

and a couple of the furballs were playing king of the recliner...

just as she was gaining momentum...
whack...
a paw stopped her cold...

Princess Bleubell...
the guys gave her the princess part...
thinks she owns the place...
and I guess she's staying...
she gets along with everyone...

and my supper the night before last...
check out that garden fresh tomato...
grown locally...
we are starting to get the roma tomatoes now...
but not quite ready for the beef masters...
but it won't be long...

doing well this week with just 1/2 a pill...
blood sugar is up enough to where I have some energy and no more crashing...
need to get dressed soon...
keep putting it off...
yep, its one of those days...
well, off to discover what lies behind the furniture this week...

kids of summer...

more images...

of summers gone by...

hope you can use them...

just a small quote...
we all have work to do...
not just to sit and enjoy what we have been given...
but to share the joy we have...

have a great day...
we have thunder around us...
just waiting for it to rain...

another scorcher of a day, but then...

we have 10 whole days in a row with a chance of rain...
so hopefully a couple of them will bring us some relief from this drought...

but, there is not one Japanese beetle on the rose of sharon this year...
I have only found one this whole summer, and it was on the cone flowers...
I did hear one cricket 2 nights ago...
but not since...
I miss them...
I miss the tree frogs singing, too, in the night...
the flies are even gone again...
they came in with the last cold front...
I hate to say it, but I am so ready for fall...
the leaves are falling already and the yard has the shades of fall going on...
I know it won't be a pretty one, but it will be cooler...

DH went to his cousin's step dad's funeral yesterday...
his uncle Raymond died at 25 from a diabetic coma...
he had a daughter who was so small at the time...
and when his widow remarried, this man took and raised that little girl as his own...
and they stayed close to the family always, having 3 more boys, who weren't really related to DH...
but they accepted each other as cousins...
DH spent a lot of time with his step uncle and aunt...
and was best friends all the way through school with one of the boys...
for DH, it was like burying his second dad...
so if you could, keep them all in your prayers this week...
this man was 86 and ready to go...
and the family all know he is much happier where he is now...
but it's still hard giving them back...
and the adjustment you have to go through when someone leaves this earth...

hope your week is a good one...
and take time to spend with those still on this side while you can...
you never know when someone will be called home...

raindrops keep falling on my head...

that's our new theme song here...
we got .2 of rain yesterday afternoon...

the tomatoes are happy...

got 2 of these on an online rummage sale...

and this little music box...
and it plays...
raindrops keep falling on my head...

just enough to last an hour...

not sure if the grass will come out of it or not...

we didn't have to water last night...

water drops on every little petal...

it did do some good, but we are still praying for more...

thanking God for every drop that he sent our way...

even had a few small water puddles...

storm clouds that dumped on us a bit...

it sure was nice sitting on the deck watching it come down...
the guys were asleep and the animals all headed inside after the thunder started...
thunder...
what a wonderful sound...
and with the tin roof...
you can hear every little drop that falls...
it was a great day...
now a few more days of upper 90s before the next chance of rain!

new additions...

well, yesterday was a roller coaster for me and my blood sugar, so I didn't get much done until after supper last night...
I finally found my netting that my bestie had given to me on my birthday a couple years ago...
Craig helped me hang it up...
I was saving it for this spot!

it will completely surround the napping area...
no flies up the nose again!

and I finally hung a plant inside this wonderful frame that DH bought for me a couple months ago...

it folds flat to store it, too...

the ferns are gone...
just watering twice a week to keep the root balls alive...
they announced last night on the news that we are now in a severe drought...
we were supposed to get rain starting in today...
but that changed sometime during the night...
we have a 10% chance now, and they have postponed it until tomorrow...
but next week looks more promising...
until they take it out of the forecast...

wonder who's under here????
can you guess????

why, its Mr Wiggles, of course...
all the cats like to hide under here...
but most of them get all of their body parts under it...

DH is happier than a pig in mud...
there is a pole light out by the road that we paid to have on for 17 years...
then last year it went out and we kind of liked the dark...
you can really see so many more stars without the light on, so I called and told them to take it down, we didn't want it anymore...
it was great when the kids were all at home and the neighbor kids still lived here...
gave them plenty of light to shoot hoops after dark and play out in the north lot...
but those days are gone...
so our neighbor across the street called them back and said she wanted the light back on...
and she paid for it for a year...
or so...
two nights ago, DH went to bed early...
and Craig and I went out after dark to go for our walk and the light was out...
it was great...
then yesterday we looked closer and its completely gone...
so DH had fun on the deck last night...
he's a star gazer...
Craig and I added a short string of icicle lights to the back of the deck along the bottom...
just enough light to walk around out there and not trip over the cats and dog...
he loves it...
I am still waiting on a few days of rain to see how it is when its dreary out there...
now that's my kind of fun!

have a great day...
