another day...

yesterday the skies were like this on our morning walks...

but I wanted to show you the poles...
see the hole?
from the drought...

and the storm drain- same thing going on...

and one of our water meters...
this is the one for the north lot...
the rain filled a lot of the gaps in...
before, a small child could get their foot in here...

1.6 inches of rain helps a bunch...

the dusty millers are about to seed...

this daisy is about done, too...

the 10 day forecast for us shows all 80s...
no more 90s and 100s in sight...
hopefully, the early fall is coming...
and we have a chance of rain on Wednesday...

and a note on me...
certain "things" passed this morning...
and are still passing...
DH is working until noon...
I got up really early and decided I could go back to bed for a bit...
should really get moving...
load of laundry is in and breakfast dishes are soaking in the sink...
better yell at Craig, too...
he's sleeping in, but not for long...
need to clip the dog sometime today...
and clean out the fridge...
check the can goods and make a list...
need to let Princess Snuggles out of the kennel...
she's throwing a fit...
and, the most important thing...
besides getting dressed...
I need to spend some time on the deck...
so you all have fun with your weekend...

the windows are open...

there is a bit more green going on out here now...
got another 1/2 of an inch last night...

its overcast this morning and in the 60s...
high today is 79...

too late for the corn...

weeds in the vacant lots on our walk this morning...

but maybe not completely too late for the beans...

bad storms with high winds and one tornado hit north of here...
took roofs off, trees and power poles down...
laid some beans and corn down, too...
70 mph winds...
so glad we didn't get that...

slowly getting over this...
I have had my shower and am dressed...
in long sleeves...
still waiting for the bomb to drop...
hope it happens soon...

no pain in my tummy or my back and not as sore today...
not doing much today...
just walks and taking naps...

you all have a good day and thanks for your prayers...

2 DAYS WITH RAIN...

clouds that moved in last night...

they were dark, but not much rain...

nothing here at all...

but it cooled off 12 degrees in 20 minutes...
the storms came later in the night...
with thunder boomers...
it sounded wonderful...
1.1 inches worth...

early evening today, the clouds came back...

and we got .4 real fast...

its still raining...

there have been major storms move through north of us with very high winds...

but so far we have missed those...

its been a rough 24 hours and its not over yet...
we finally figured out what is doing it...
I have a gluten problem and every Tuesday we get a chicken dinner from here in town...
with all the fixin's, including biscuits...
which I thought I could do since they were dry and flaky...
well...
I was wrong...
I have yet to pass the stupid thing, but it is moving slowly through...
called the DR and he said go to the ER...
called Steve home...
packed a bag and my purse for a stay...
just in case...
and then I had to hit the bathroom...
there I was on the throne when Steve came in...
pooped enough for major relief, but more needs to go...

I have eaten lightly...
BS and BP are good...
getting fluids in, too...
so...
if this doesn't come on through on its own or the pain comes back or the vomiting...
we are ER bound...
I am tired of it...

I don't want surgery or a C-bag...
but after last night, its better than doing that again...
keep us in your prayers...
not sure how this is going to end...

need help

just pray
sick
cannot eat
stomach pain, back pain
vomiting
since 3pm

There was a murder in my yard yesterday...

did you pop in expecting this???

these guys are always a noisy bunch...

scares the cats to death...

they come in every now and then...

raise a fuss and move on...

just one more day of this and we get a cooling off period...
there's a 60% chance of rain tomorrow...
all day tomorrow...

farmers came into the elevator yesterday to have some corn checked...
moisture is 38%...
needs to be below 20%...
but they say they are going to have to start picking with it green anyway...
when the ears drop, they drop to hang and dry...
the ears are falling off and hitting the ground...
they can't get them off of the ground...
if we get high winds, it will lay the corn down...
again, they can't get it off the ground...

this is going to be a pain in the butt harvest...
they can only dry so much at a time...
they will have to run the dryer 24/7 and won't be able to keep up...
wet corn molds fast...
it can also explode in the bins...
wet corn clogs augers and equipment...
the farmers need to get everything oiled so there are no sparks from the combines...
one spark and the fields will go up...

it is not going to be a happy harvest...
when the farmers are stressed, they take short cuts...
that leads to accidents...
and even death...

if we get the bad storms tomorrow...
they won't have to worry about it...
just plow it under in the spring...
those that do no till...
beans go in after corn...

the farmers are covered better with the crop insurance if they lose the whole field than trying to pick 1/10 of what's supposed to be there...

they also were talking long range weather...
another warm winter with little precip...
and another summer coming like this one...
let's hope not...

praying for rain here...
we need 4 inches to get moisture back in the ground...
praying for a safe harvest...
we need divine intervention here and we need it bad...
