this morning's efforts...

saw this idea online...

and since we had some left overs just laying around...

we began...

we also pulled all the weeds in the drive way...

I lined the bottom of the cinder blocks with coffee filters...

can't wait to see how this looks next year with new plantings and fun colors...

just grabbed what we had hanging out here that has survived the drought...

not the best looking plants, but wanted an idea of what will be...

in for lunch and a shower and I'm pupt...

heading in for a nap...

I guess everyone has been pretty busy this last week...

me,tooooooo!

we did get some big winds and lots of rain this week...

and all that thunder and rain has sure made things grow...

we got 2.2 inches yesterday afternoon...

and some good winds...

part of the corn was laid over...

so we started on this first thing this morning...

while the ground is still wet...

easier to pull weeds that way...

we pulled the driveway, too...

around the big shrubs out front and the fire hydrant...

DH and I took a drive...

he took today off for me today...

this is the park...

and the parking area to fish at the lake...

its up some...

so since he has today off, we are playing it by ear...

if you look close you can see the heron that got lost and lives here now...

and we stopped by the pool...

for ice cream...

they close on Sunday cuz school starts next Monday!

volunteers showed up here at the park this morning to work on it...

new gravel has been spread...

there's a new rail road light at the old depot...

my new shoes...

for my birthday...

this was beginning to be a tripping hazard...

so when we got back, I sat down, took off my shoes so I wouldn't get them messed up, and started pulling up bricks...

here's the root ball that was pushing it up...

I turned 50 today...

Craig is in Paris picking up whoppers for my birthday...

think I will take DH shopping sometime this weekend to Walmart...

more yard work, too...

everything from the deck is drying out and spread all over the place...

it all got a good soaking...

some of its in the washer, too...

so, I may not post much more this weekend...

if I don't you know I'm BUSY!

its re-done!

this is what happened here this morning...

its been years since they resurfaced our road...

and this is the most commotion we have had in a long time...

that's what happens when you live at the end of a dead end...

didn't take them long and there they go...

looks good, but its bumpy on my butt in the wheel chair...

still didn't stop me, though...

there were many walks on this cool day...

gardening in the shade...

we started out here last night...

and it was in really bad shape...

but we had company stop by...

so we just sat in the yard for a time and chatted...

had to finish this after lunch today...

looks really good compared to the rest of the yard...

glad I didn't plant this full this year...

they would have died anyway...

the rose bushes have some dead leaves on them, but for the most part, they are doing pretty good...

didn't even hit 80 today and it has been over cast all day long...

I was eyeing this mess when it started sprinkling...

lucky for Craig...

there is some more green happening out there...

nothing to really brag about or even drag the mower out for...

but its not all brown...

glad I didn't get the basket planted this year...

need to find some silks to put in there, maybe...

filled the ground basket with seed for the larger birds...

just in case they come back...

the dead leaves in the rose bush...

left them...

got pricked too many times so decided they could stay there...

now, this was from last night...

I would like the introduce redneck lawn darts...

this is a friend's husband...

with my gardening carpet square...

they used them for targets...

and instead of darts...

bows and arrows...

yep, that's how its done here...

yard darts wouldn't even stick in the ground its so hard...

but the arrows do...

where were my friend and I????

on the deck...

out of range...

and that's why the gardening had to wait until today...

no birds, cats or humans were harmed at this event...

and kids- do not try this at home...

its only for idiot adult men...
