Sundays are good days...

weeded the tomatoes today and watered pots...
that's the only outside work we did...

which really isn't work, to me...
I like playing in the dirt...

still getting blooms, but no more bloom rot on the new ones coming on...

and of course we have plenty of help whenever we venture out...
kind of looks like a little lamb...
and he follows me everywhere...

so here are some shots of what I look at when I am playing outside...

we had a Jack Russel coming in this weekend to see if we could help her out any...
been abused and the people who took her in just can't get her to come out of her shell...
scared of everything...

so we have waited on them to call all weekend to say they were on their way with her...
and when he does call, its to say they want to wait until next weekend...

Daphne was helping, too...

I told this man that that was better for us, too...
we have one missing and one down on us...

Beau Beau is missing...
2 days now...
and Boofy must have had another seizure...

she is down...
losing weight and dehydrated...
so just got done giving her a bath and feeding her chicken baby food...
just a bit...

with my finger...
and gave her a dropper full of powerade zero for electrolytes...
blow dried her and put her in a kennel...

this is the third time she has started crashing on us...

so hoping she pulls out of it...
she was just outside running and playing 2 days ago...

so whatever is going wrong with her, if this is how its going to be for her...
I do not mind giving her back...

we have had her 7 years...

we can go years without losing one and then bam...
just like that, they fade away...

and its always because someone else is waiting to come in...

and you know there are more out there...
who need us...

He has never sent us more than we could take care of...

this is one that I will really miss when he goes...
and at 13, he is slowing down...

I have learned to appreciate who we have, when we have them...
because here, nothing is forever...
Heaven, to me, is where no animal or child is waiting to be adopted...
when they cross over, they have their forever home...
and they're safe...

so if you could pray for both my little ones...
for no suffering...
I would appreciate it...

a fun thing and a sad thing...

we have an abundance of these this year...
I see one everyday out in the yard...

but I wanted to show you this little jar...
got it at a rummage sale a few weeks ago and knew what I wanted to do with it...

see the holes?
perfect to use for a mini flower frog...

and it filled up pretty easy...

all while being watched...

and here it is inside...
a great alternative to floating the flowers...

and a bit of sad news...
Zags passed away in my arms late last night...
do not know why...
he ate good yesterday morning and then wouldn't eat for us after that...
by 8pm he was crashing...
so I sat and rocked him...
he left here at 11:45...
I guess someone up there needed a kitten to play with...

finished...for now...

good morning!
just thought I would show you what Craiger and I did yesterday...
we took out at least half of that bush there...
it was ones of those little yellow ornament type plantings that are everywhere in design landscaping...
well, its over 10 foot tall...
cut it up and cut it back for ventilation for the rose of sharon...

Craiger made several trips to the burn pile with that...

so while he was toting...
I was shooting...

I have been disappointed in the amount of weeds we have this year...
of course, that's the goal isn't it?

but if there are no weeds to pull, you don't get to spend much time out in the beds...

cat fight...
probably over who gets to crap in mom's flower beds first...

then while he was piddle fartin' around with the limbs and debris...

I moved a few things around...
sitting here this morning, though, in long sleeves...
its in the 50s and we had some rain come down through the night and early this morning...
not a lot, but enough...
and the wind is pretty breezing, so digging through the closet I went...
I just love sweater weather...
making me think of getting the fall stuff out...
or at least making cookies...
I am going for a walk as soon as I can get the kid moving this morning...
he is in the shower now...
then it will be time to feed the rugrats...
they are on slop now...
the bottle just wasn't enough...

just a thought...
strong words...
wise words...
need to have this framed and put up in here...

have a great day and a fun weekend!

a little gardening, anyone?

spent part of yesterday afternoon outside again...
and we were being watched...

we took out the backside of the rose of sharon...
it had rot...
and then we redid the birdbath...
it has sat in the white wicker chair for years, but it is in bad shape now...

I love this rose of sharon...

and I don't want to lose it completely...

so we are clearing out some things and cutting others back to stop the rot from happening again...

it just needs to get some air in there...

so this should help keep it drier...

and its easy for the birds and the cats to drink out of...

sure starting to look like fall more and more...
I love this time right now...
still summer with just a peek at all the magic that happens when everything green is ablaze with color...
usually by now we are so sick of green!
not with the drought this summer...
green is a wonderful color...

DH has been working 7-8 this week...
but this morning he had to go in at 3am...
they are having some major issues already this fall...
now the corn coming in has alphatoxin...
which is really bad...
when used as feed, it can kill chickens and cattle...
every single load that comes in to be dumped has to be tested...
and they are rejecting so much!
that which is accepted must be dried down to 14%...
drying the corn kills the toxin or it just fails to increase...
it needs moisture to grow...
so they dry it...
the dryers are running 24/7 at all the elevators...
trucks are lined up for blocks and blocks trying to get in...
makes it a longer harvest for the farmers sitting in line...

some of the farmers have sensors on their combines so they know how many bushels they are picking...
one guy averaged 97 an acre...
but it showed some areas were 200 and then others showed 0, so he wasn't getting anything at all out of some places...

harvest is hard work and long hours...
combine that with a hard harvest and tempers flair easily, things are overlooked, they are more tired and that's when major things can go very wrong...
farm accidents, guys getting caught in machinery, is a scary thing...
please pray for a safe harvest...
for everyone working out there day and night to bring this pitiful crop in...
so many things are going wrong for them...
a funeral should not be part of it...
