just a bit more fall...

I promise it will be over soon enough...

got rain and wind today, so that took care of a lot of the fall leaves...

do you have papers like this in your town?

we rode down to the deli in Ashmore and then came back on a country road that I like...

just a small detour...

loving all the colors...

and then I met this one...

and of course got a photo of a horse pooping...

but the colors were remarkable...

and older soul...

but still so pretty...
and wet from the morning rain...
posed for me...
and I thanked it and we rode on...

stubble...

another post...

cows...

love the color of the shed...

reflections amid the leaves...

a better view of the creek...

just a nice day to start with...

I love our prairie grasses...

they are the most beautiful...

and another cow...

it got colder this afternoon...

not fun at all being outside...

my DH is working nights now...
temporarily...
to get caught up on the food grade corn...

so we had yesterday and today together...
not doing much...
letting him rest while he could...
12 hour shifts still...
and in the cold of the night...
but its almost finished...
and we will be back to normal...
just in time for things to go nuts around the holidays...
;)
and so it goes on the prairie...

the best of fall on the prairie...

welcome to autumn...

where all the colors are showing...

and the peace of country life is exposed...

where we play and dream...

places we drive by every day and never give a thought to...

well, most of us...

do you know what those are?
that's where the squirrels live...

most of the crops are out, but we found this bottom ground still untouched...

there is something about fence posts...

and old rusty gates...

and broken barbed fences...

the decay of summer...

the most beautiful things just happen...

without our planning it...

that's the world we saw today...
but the rains are coming in again...
and the colors will float away...
and before you know it...
it will all be covered white...
and that will be another drive....

DH working nights for a week or two is going to be different...
not sure how we will function...
but we will get through it...
food grade corn coming in now...
so you can have your fritos...
;)
be blessed...

Monday's thought...

this is too selfish...
this is not how life works...

its not what you get out of it...
it should be what you give out of it...

I have been inspired the most by people who I thought I was helping...
thinking that it would be such a one sided thing, that I was the giver...
but in the end...
I got back just as much or more than what I gave...
these are the ones who change you on the inside...
the ones that God has placed in your care...

surround yourself with those of God's choosing...
waste your time on the lesser...
your destiny is to kneel before the throne of God...
and you will never do that thinking you are better than anyone else...

surround yourself with LOVE...
your destiny is to serve...
its not about you...
its about God...

the more you love, the more you will be loved...
the more you help, the more you will be helped...
the more you hug, the more you will be hugged...
it all begins with you...
and your attitude...
if you're not there, change it...
its a new day...

peace to you...
and hug on...
;)

fall in my yard...

got up this morning to 29...

and a hard frost...

it was beautiful...

but it was enough to finish off most things in the beds...

both guys are working today...

so work day got pushed back a bit...

I even called the mower guy and told him that we are going to need one more time this year...

yellow maple leaves are so bright...

got so much to pull, pick up and rake...

persimmons...

a big crop this year...

major yields usually means...

a major winter...

a cold winter...

their shadow on the house...

its just a carpet of leaves...

with more to come...

sedum...

red maple behind a yellow one...

the sky is such a blue jewel today...

saving my rotten gourds...
throwing them into a flower bed for winter and see what shows up in the spring...

today, I am thankful for seasons...
for fall...
for colors that float in the wind...
for a time to say good bye to summer's labor before being confined to the inside during the cold months...

happy for days in the 50s and 60s this week...
DH is still in harvest and doing the overtime, but it won't be much longer...
hoping to have the outside done and put to sleep before Thanksgiving this year...
just a late harvest...
;)
have had a rough couple of days...
but the worst is passed...
hoping and praying for a better day tomorrow...
;)
