its been rather boring around here...

been cooking...

fried potatoes here, with apples, onions and sausage...

been bird watching...

the junipers are back with the sparrows...

been watching clouds go by...

and been watching the snow melt...

see, nothing happening here...

got up this morning to a fire here in town and will drive by later to see how bad...

the bus garage for the school buses caught fire around 2:30 am...

it was engulfed and one bus...

we slept through it...

its on the other side of town...

been helping out here and there...

made this flyer...

I helped a friend start this community dinner several years ago...

and its still going strong..

we worked it the first three years...

had it at the VFW when we started...

now its in one of the cafe's downtown...

and they do such a good job with it...

120 last year attended...

and Shirley is hoping for 200 this year...

we are doing our dinner on Wednesday this year...

Craig has to work Thursday and Friday...

so we can just graze the rest of the week...

the old man and I might even wander up town to the community dinner since we will be all alone...

you never know...

we have got freezing rain coming in tonight...

and then next Friday, long term says it could get fun...

like 5-8 inches of white stuff fun...

really?

been wearing my long johns...

and boots...

with 2 pairs of socks...

ear muffs...

(the only ones I have right now are my sock monkey ones)

you just can't find them anymore...

if it gets any colder, I will trade them in for my sock monkey hat with ear flaps...

(seriously, I have one)

and my sock monkey mittens...

we did find the snow shovel...

and bought ice melt...

so guess we're ready...

going to be a fun packed time grabbing groceries for dinner next week...

can you believe it?

we are having January weather in November...

I didn't order this or pray for it or nothing...

it just happened...

it was so pretty last night...

it was stuck on everything...

but the sun came out early and it started melting off of the limbs...

well, tomorrow is the big day...

breast exam with my primary first thing in the morning...

and its supposed to be 12 degrees...

I am so not looking forward to freezing my buns off...

and I am hoping that the squisher machine is open, so he can send me right over to get my mammo...

and I don't have to go back or hang around an hour or three...

Christmas donations are piling up around here...

we don't set up until the after Thanksgiving...

ok, now for the good stuff...

got this at the open house last Friday...

picked up 3 of them, but thinking now that I need to go back and grab a lot more of them...

I found this at Habitat for Humanity...

that was our first time in there, and will be going back...

some things are cheap and some aren't...

guess it depends on who is doing the pricing that day...

I am not planning on store hopping tomorrow in the cold...

I would freeze in the chair going across the parking lot...

I don't have a handicapped thingy...

so sometimes(most of the time)...

we have to park so far away from the door...

and the chair doesn't get through the ice and snow very well...

so will probably get squished and grab something at a drive up window and head home...

I am so grateful the van has a great heater in it...

I thought about taking my camera tomorrow...

but thought you might not want to see my flat boobs...

so leaving it at home...

as the world turns white...

we had snow on the ground when we got up yesterday morning...

but the sun popped out for a bit and it melted before noon...

but then it started in again...

and it started in again...

the first part of it melted right off...

but soon, it started to stick...

to everything...

I asked DH to take me for a drive when it was snowing...

before the major sticking started...

the world outside now is covered in white...

its a wet snow, and stuck to everything...

as soon as the light comes this morning...

I will step out and get some shots of the pretty before it goes away again...

sure glad we did our shopping on Saturday...

we shopped till we dropped...

and found some fun things, too...

but it was mostly a stock up on groceries day...

and getting what we needed to do another cold week...

DH even got the snow shovel out of the shed...

and we pulled all of the summer clothes out of our closet and put them away...

nothing but flannels, sweaters. sweat shirts and long sleeves in there now...

do ya think winter's here?

IF winter looked like it does now 100% of the time...

and we had no more than 3 inches on the ground...

and it didn't get colder than it is...

Christmas Open House...

stopped in to see these 2 yesterday...

Nova and Carol...

this is some of what Nova does...

she does the painting...

and she will paint on anything...

and she is very good at it...

we have set up at many shows here in town together over the years...

and she has fun doing it...

this is Carol...

she is into floral arrangements...

and then she finds fun things like this...

she likes glitter...

sometimes a bit too much for me...

but she is broadening her horizons and tried a little burlap this year...

and it is selling fast...

oh, well- I know how it is to have props and wanting to keep them to display with...

and that's where I spent part of the morning...

then had to go back and pick it up because I had no money and no check book on me...

we were on a mission to pick up toys and dump the donation cans when this crazy sign distracted me...

I knew this was coming, but had it in my head that it was next week...

then I figured out it was next week already...

I will show you what I got sometime next week...

today, me and my guy are heading out of town to do some shopping and grab lunch...

and we aren't going to Paris!

its official...

we had our first snow yesterday afternoon...

there was enough to track a cat...

so we went out after it had just gotten done...

it only snowed like a blizzard snow for less than 5 minutes...

I got some quick shots heading to the van...

and DH and I took a drive just out of town...

hoping it would start again...

but it didn't...

they were the biggest flakes ever...

and your could watch it move across the fields...

but those nasty old clouds that brought it left as quickly as they came in...

so we headed home...

we were losing sunlight...

the worst part of winter, for me, it the shorter days...

the lack of sunlight...

I thrive in bright sunlight...

gather energy from it...

been a busy morning and haven't gotten very much done at all today...

running here and there...

paid the water bill and the po box rent for the year...

checked all the donation boxes and canisters...

then we hit a Christmas Open House...

I know the crafters personally...

done shows with them...

so had to stop and grabbed a few things...

grabbed a few things at the store...

used fettuccine noodles...

and it ended up making 2 cake pans full...

so, guess that's what we are eating for supper...

and breakfast...

and lunch...

and supper again...

I had to take a taste test since they both just came out of the oven...

its good...

really good...

DH will probably be working over a bit and come in around 5ish...

for the most part, the overtime is done...

and he does have the weekend off...

we are shopping on Saturday morning...

got another round of s*#@ coming in in the afternoon and through the night...

but a week from Sunday, the long term forecast has us up to 50...

back to the normal stuff for us...

so, have a great weekend...
